Today, students received their course verification lists during Advisory, marking the next step in planning for the upcoming academic year. We kindly ask that you take a moment this weekend to review your student's course requests and return the forms to the School Counseling Office by March 8th if any adjustments are needed.
When reviewing your student’s course requests, consider the importance of a well-rounded curriculum. A well-rounded curriculum is achieved through various means, such as scoring 3+ on an AP exam, scoring a 530+ on the Math SAT and 480+ on the English SAT, scoring a 21+ on the ACT, scoring a 31+ on the ASVAB, meeting the University of Maryland entry requirements, earning credit in a Dual Enrollment course, completing a youth apprenticeship program, obtaining an industry certification, finishing a CTE completer, or receiving the Seal of Biliteracy. For more information on these options and to discuss the best options for your student, I encourage you to reach out to your student's School Counselor. Your involvement in this process is crucial, and we appreciate your ongoing support in shaping a fulfilling, well-rounded academic program for your student.

Research has shown that attendance is a leading predictor of academic achievement and adult success. Students who find attending school important are more likely to attain goals like attending trade school, college, or getting a job. By showing up to school every day, students develop a positive work ethic and prepare for future success by developing healthy and productive habits.
Our attendance goals this year are for students to maintain at least a 94% attendance rate and to reduce chronic absenteeism. A student that misses 10% or more of school days in chronically absent. By missing just 2 days a month, a student will be chronically absent. Use the "Attendance Tracker" and "Parent Tips" below to support your student in maintaining satisfactory attendance. Additionally, we will send parents/guardians a "Weekly Attendance Report" each Friday afternoon so you can track your student's daily and period attendance.
