DECA on the Move
The Post Falls DECA Chapter participated in a couple of very special events in April/May.
DECA members assisted local businesses at the Chamber of Commerce Business Fair. While there they helped local businesses set up marketing booths and had the opportunity to interact, learn, and network with business participants from the Post Falls and surrounding areas.
This event overlapped with the DECA International Career Development Conference (ICDC), held this
year in Anaheim, California. This conference is host to over 23,000 participants, including students from all 50 states of the US, the District of Columbia, Canada, China, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Guam, Germany, and Spain. Students networked and competed with students from around the world in a variety of real world business scenarios and marketing events. In order to qualify for ICDC, students must place in the top three at the state level competition.
Those representing the state of Idaho from Post Falls High School were: Audry Byrd in Independent
Business Plan, Kaitlyn Carmack in International Business Plan, Troy Defeyter in Principles of Business Management & Administration, Logan Fisher in Entrepreneurship, Brianna Kodak in International Business Plan, Ryley Liechti in Principles of Business Management & Administration, Tyler McINtyre in Principles of Business Finance, Cayleigh Theoret in Hotel & Lodging Management, and Emalee Wiggin in Marketing Communication.
International DECA boasts high school membership of more than 260,000 students in nearly 4,000 high schools in the US and around the world who are preparing for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality, management, and entrepreneurship. Through participation in DECA, students have the opportunity to become an academically prepared, community oriented, professionally responsible, and experienced leader. We are proud of our Post Falls DECA students, their leadership and accomplishments!
