Hitchcock Center Field Trip - Part One!
This week, Ms. Gillmeister and Ms. Hayes brought their 5th-grade homerooms to the Hitchcock Center in Amherst for a special field trip. The visit marked the culmination of a November partnership between WMS and the Hitchcock Center. Students enjoyed a variety of activities, including a guided tour of the center, a scavenger hunt, and hands-on lessons about rainwater collection and taxidermy.
One highlight of the trip was a design challenge where students built model houses using cardboard, paper, plastic, and foil. The goal was to create structures that could keep the occupants dry while efficiently collecting rainwater. The experience combined creativity, teamwork, and real-world problem-solving!
Ms. Musnicki and Ms. King will bring their classes next Tuesday!

WMS Strategic Plan - Attendance
Here at WMS, we emphasize the significance of student attendance as a pivotal factor in academic success. Our goal this year is to achieve a 95% daily student attendance rate, which would be a 5% increase over last school year.
We aim to do this by:
* Increasing family communication
* Fostering student-teacher relationships
* Providing support and opportunities for students to recover missed school days
We have also issued attendance challenges to the staff and students.
The homeroom with the highest daily attendance percentage in the month of November will earn a special lunch period with a movie!
Bus Behavior
Keep the Ride Safe and Smooth!
Take a moment to review these important bus safety tips with your child:
- Keep it calm: Hands and feet to yourself, always.
- Speak up the right way: If you need help, don’t hesitate to ask an adult.
- Stay in your spot: Remain seated at all times and stick to your assigned seat.
- Use your inside voice: No shouting—it keeps the ride safe for everyone.
Let’s work together to ensure every bus ride is a safe and pleasant journey! 🚍

Ware Family Resource Center
The Ware Family Resource Center (FRC) is part of a statewide network of FRCs that help families and individuals resolve challenges, strengthen their bonds, connect to others and engage in their communities. In addition to assisting families with finding resources, FRCs support families with youth who are at risk of needing court involvement because of their behavior.
