Falcon Flyer
Belong. Inspire. Grow.
Straight from the Hardt
Hello Ridgeline Families-- what a great way to end the week with some sunshine! Happy for our spring sport athletes to get some quality time outside, at least for a couple days. We’d be foolish to believe the month of March will let us off the hook completely, so we’ll take this warm break while we can! Some things never change, even as you get older. I remember when I was teaching elementary school and the weather would finally get warm in the spring and we could enjoy being outside, but at the same time keeping the 3rd graders focused on their schoolwork was a challenging task! No different in high school kids, and no different for the principal! We are all anxious to get outside!
I was just thinking it was a pretty low-key week…and then I glanced at the draft Flyer for this week. That is why it’s so important for parents to check it out as well. I would miss my own school events if it wasn’t written down here!
VERDE LOCO updates include class competitions that are getting very tight and the points are stacking up. A great way to tip the scales in your favor is to bring in the food for our annual food drive! Every item translates into points! More importantly, it translates into support for those in need in our community. If you get out this weekend, SHOP LOCO, at our sponsor establishments! Next Friday night is the NEON Mixer, open to Ridgeline students ONLY, and two cans of food gets you in the door!
There were lots of celebrations this week, including the Meritorious Service Award Nominations. This is a great event where staff and community members affiliated with Ridgeline are honored for their contributions to individuals and the school. Parents, when you contribute a nomination for a staff member, it means more than you may even realize. Often brings tears of joy. Same when it comes from the students themselves. Tuck this away in your memory bank for next Feb-March when the nomination window is open!
Thank you to our Future Falcons who showed up on Tuesday night on campus to get to know their school better before their freshman year begins! It was a great event, excellent turnout, and the vibe from our freshman was very positive! They’re excited!
Thursday after school we held our annual Poetry Slam, where Ridgeline students competed for a chance to go to the regional tournament in a few weeks. Proud of these students who put in their own time and their own emotions to create original works. Each told a very unique story with structures and language to engage and entertain the audience! Meet our contestants below.
We celebrated three more teams heading to state with our Knowledge Bowl, Speech/Debate (also 3A academic champs!), and our amazing dance team(picture here)!
There are many more highlights of student excellence, coming opportunities, and important updates in today’s Falcon Flyer. Take a look!
Make it a great weekend! –Mr. Hardt

Please donate to the Verde Loco Food Drive
Donate to Ridgeline’s Food Drive and sponsor your District for Verde Loco! The drive runs to March 22nd, and collections can be dropped off in the morning before school in the leadership room.
💚 The grade, or district, with the most items donated will win 40 points in the Hunger Greens. Bringing food is your ticket of entry to the Neon Mixer (3/22 from 7-10pm), so please bring non-perishable food to donate at those events as well!
💚 There is also an option to donate money- just find a QR code printed around the school or click the link below and select your grade before giving. All donations will go to Partners Inland Northwest.

Girls Golf Team
The Girls Golf Team started their season yesterday straight from indoor Simulator training to playing in the Moses Lake Invitational. The chilly temperature did not deter the girls from playing well. A Two-Person Best Ball format proved to be the ticket for Juniors Carolyn Rose and Kate Mulligan who placed 6th behind only teams who have been practicing outside for weeks. Individual performances included Carolyn's T-5, Kate's T-15, Junior Alaina Mitrovich's T-26, and Sophomore Sawyer Anderson 's T-30. It was a great start to the season. Congrats Ladies and Talons Up!
Boys Golf Team
Great performance from the Ridgeline boys golf team this week! Two tournaments in Walla Walla with the boys taking 1st place as a team the second day at Walla Walla Country Club.
