The students have achieved many great things this year! Below you will see all of the accomplishments the students achieved this year. We are so proud of the students and how much they have grown this year!
Summer office hours will be Tuesdays. Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 9:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m. during June. In July, the school office will be closed. If there are any changes due to the Air Conditioning construction, we will be sure to keep you posted.
Many thanks to everyone for all your support and dedication to St. Francis de Sales School! It is truly a blessing to be a part of this community!
I pray everyone has a fun, safe, and relaxing summer!
Gratefully,

Awards
Virtue Award Students
April’s virtue of the month was Obedience and May’s virtue of the month was Diligence. The following students were given a virtue award during April or May.
St. Francis de Sales Virtue Award
For many years, we have used the Virtues in Practice curriculum developed by the Nashville Dominicans. To quote its website, it “is a program for children in grades pre-kindergarten through eight to grow closer to Jesus by imitating His life and virtues. It is set up in such a way that a whole school studies the same virtue each month, to provide a whole-school (and at home, whole-family) focus. The program covers 27 virtues over a three-year cycle, with 81 saints held up as models of the virtues”.
Here, teachers and staff are encouraged to catch students practicing that virtue, or any other previously mentioned virtues that we have studied throughout the year and recognize them for their effort. As you know, we even set aside time for greater recognition at school Masses every other month.
We are called to strive to be better, and this program is designed to encourage and recognize students who are working hard to that end. Every staff member is given a chance to vote on two students per grade who have demonstrated real effort to practice the virtues. This is not the grade level teacher’s choice alone.
The following students are being recognized for the yearlong effort to practice and grow in virtue. Congratulations to the following students:
Perfect Attendance
The following students did not miss any days of school during the 2023-2024 school year. Congratulations to the following students:

This year we had (4) 8th grade students participate in the Power of the Pen Writing competition. Mrs. Colley was gracious enough to be the Staff Team Leader for the group. Congratulations to Luke Hathaway, Owen Morwood, Anna Patterson, Keegan Schrameck.
We had 2 students advance to Regionals and earned an Honors distinction. Congratulations to Owen Morwood and Anna Patterson!
President’s Education Award for Outstanding Academic Excellence
This award is given to students who earn an end of year GPA of 3.8+ on a 4.0 scale. Additional criteria are students who demonstrate high motivation, initiative, integrity, intellectual depth, and leadership qualities. This award is given to students in 4th – 8th grade.
Congratulations to the following students:
St. Francis de Sales Spirit Award
The St. Francis de Sales Spirit Award recognizes a student who has consistently demonstrated throughout the school year the characteristics of our Patron Saint.
St. Francis de Sales was so overflowing with good nature and kindness. His meekness and sunny disposition won for him the title of “Gentleman Saint”.
These qualities can be found in the Fruits of the Spirit… respect for others, gentleness, obedience, and friendship. Such a student has demonstrated growth in the ability to know, to love and to serve the Lord.
The selected eighth grade student will receive this award based on the recommendation of his/her academic teachers.
Silver Beaver Award
The Silver Beaver Award is the council-level distinguished service award of the Boy Scouts of America. Upon nomination by their local Scout council and with the approval of the National Court of Honor, recipients of this award are registered adult leaders who have made an impact on the lives of youth through service given to the council. The Silver Beaver is an award given to those who implement the Scouting program and perform community service through hard work, self-sacrifice, dedication, and many years of service. It is given to those who do not seek it.
Cassie Georgeff Narrative:
I believe that there is no other Scouter within the Dan Beard Council (DBC) who is more deserving of the Silver Beaver award than Cassie Georgeff. She is a quiet professional who dedicates herself to unselfish service to others. She epitomizes the values of the scouting program, and lives the values everyday of her life in her dealing with others whether at a scout meeting, training, or leading a group of students during music class at St Francis de Sales School. Her commitment, enthusiasm, and sincerity to the ideals and methods of the scouting program are unsurpassed. I know of no other scouter who sacrifices her time more than Cassie to bring the scouting experience to the youth whether in Aloha Council, Dan Beard Council, or traveling around the country. Very few know that Cassie in addition to being a music teacher is also heavily involved with the National Park Service as a volunteer. She has earned the elite status of Master Ranger Corps volunteer. In addition, she is an Education Coordinator for the Experiential Aircraft Association (EAA) having been recognized in 2023 for outstanding service for leading the EAA Resource Stewardship Scout Ranger program during their annual AirVenture Airshow. This is dedication to the values of scouting! As a National Youth Leader Training Course Director for Dan Beard Council, I can attest to Cassie’s ability to lead by example to ensure that the youth staff, scouters, and youth who attended her National Youth Leader Training course in 2023 were inspired as they are to be the next group of torch bearers of the scouting program. Cassie’s recognition of this honor was not only a testament to her, but a reaffirmation of what scouting values in its leaders!
