Jean Vanier Catholic School
February 14th, 2020
"Love First, Last, & Always"
We are uniquely blessed here at Jean Vanier School to have both the Ukrainian Catholic and Roman Catholic rites a part of our school community’s faith traditions. These two rites have so much more in common than we may realize, and involving our students in masses and celebrations from both rites offers rich and meaningful learning opportunities that deepen and enrich our students' faith.
Next Wednesday, we have a school mass planned at the beautiful, newly built St. Sophia’s Ukrainian Catholic Parish! All classes will attend and we’d like to extend this invitation to our families, too! Mass begins at 10:00 am. If you are planning to join us, please connect with your child’s teacher. You do not need to be Ukrainian Catholic to celebrate with us; all are welcome!
As we look ahead, we will be celebrating two more masses in the coming weeks and we would like to extend an invitation to all of our families:
Ash Wednesday Mass at OLPH Parish, Wednesday Feb 26th at 1:00 pm
Adoration Mass in our school gym, Monday March 2nd at 10:30 am
Whether you attend mass every weekend or celebrate less regularly, please know that you are always welcome. If your schedule allows, please consider joining us at one of our upcoming masses!

Adding Up in Chunks
Strategy Explained:
This strategy is based on students understanding that subtraction can be the difference or space between two numbers. 49 - 23
23 + 10 = 33
33 + 10 = 43
43 + 6 = 49
10 + 10 + 6 = 26
49-23=26

· sports jerseys
· sports memorabilia
· hotel vouchers, electronics
· gift cards
· fitness passes
If individuals/companies are able to make a monetary donation that we in turn can purchase items with, that would also be greatly appreciated! Names of individuals and companies who donate will be posted with the silent auction item(s), so it’s a great advertising opportunity as well. Donation letter is attached as well.
If you or anyone you know is able to contribute, please contact Angela Ewaskiw at (780) 908-0785 or cartwright07@hotmail.com.
