KILLAM PUBLIC SCHOOL
October 18, 2024
Staff Spotlight
This is the start of my 6th year of teaching. Over the past 3 years I have taught in Daysland and Sedgewick, and started at KPS in January 2024. I teach junior high ELA and science, along with options. I love basketball, but also enjoy playing volleyball, soccer, and badminton. This year I am the athletic director for KPS.
I love a quiet day at home. In my relaxation time you can find me watching as much hockey as I can while I manage my fantasy team, playing video games with friends, or watching movies with my wife.
Thank you Scott Delowsky and Crop Management
Thank you so much to Scott Delowsky and Crop Management for purchasing all the supplies and repairing our GAGA ball pits! This is greatly appreciated by everyone one at KPS!!
We had a mixup with sizing when we ordered new boys volleyball jerseys. We are selling the extra smaller sizes (Youth Medium and Youth Large). They are great quality shirts and would look fantastic on our young fans!

Fall Dance Volunteers Needed
KPS Parent Advisory will be hosting a fall dance on Friday, Oct. 25. There will be a family dance from 5-7 and Junior High Dance from 7:30 - 10. For the Junior High Dance, School Council is looking for a minimum of 4 supervisors. Supervisors will need to become agents of the board. To become an agent of the board you must have a criminal record check completed within the last 5 years and meet with either Mrs. Nelson or Mrs. Freadrich. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Mrs. Brodie in the office to get the necessary paperwork started. Parent Advisory is a valued supporter of the school and the funds raised from activities such as this go directly to supporting all our students.

CROSS COUNTRY
We are now done with Cross Country for the year. A big congratulations to Sara-Jane Ruzicka for placing 2nd at the New Norway Race and placing 1st Regionally and 2nd in the Battle River Race Series!! Also congratulations to Dayna Ruzicka for placing 3rd in the Battle River Race Series.
Amazing job to all the runners! Great job representing KPS!!
VOLLEYBALL
We went to Holden this week. The Girls A successfully defeated the Holden team in all three sets, The Girls B team won one set and lost the second. The Boys put a great effort in, but unfortunately lost in their league games.
There is a Girls Tournament in Killam this weekend! Come out and support and cheer on both of our girls teams.
There will be a concession this weekend so if you are looking for a good meal or some yummy snacks, come on out!! All proceeds from the concession are going toward the purchase of a new net.
Absent or Late Students
Please inform the office if your student will be absent by either calling (780) 385-3690 or emailing abrodie@brsd.ab.ca. Students must check-in at the office if they are late and must check out at the office if they are leaving early for the day.
