🌟 Exciting Learning in Mrs. Ellis's 5th Grade Class! 🌟
This Week in Mrs. Ellis's 5th grade class, our students engaged in an enriching math lesson that connected classroom learning to real-world applications. Mrs. Ellis used a variety of mnemonic devices and virtual scenarios to help students solve word problems, making the learning process both fun and meaningful.
The class was filled with energy as students participated in collaborative learning activities, seamlessly integrating technology. Every student was actively engaged, and the transitions between activities were smooth and efficient. The classroom environment was vibrant, with teacher-driven anchor charts and numerous resources available for students to use.
We are proud of the hard work and enthusiasm our students showed today. Thank you, Mrs. Ellis, for creating such a dynamic and supportive learning environment!
Stay tuned for more updates on our students' learning adventures!

SNOW DAY!
D.A.R.E. Graduation Ceremony a Huge Success!
On December 20, 2024, our 5th graders celebrated a significant milestone by graduating from the D.A.R.E. program. Over the past several weeks, these dedicated students have been guided through the D.A.R.E. curriculum by Cpl. Sauls, who has been instrumental in their learning and growth.
As part of their final exam, students created posters that encapsulated the lessons they learned. Four outstanding students were recognized for their exceptional posters in a contest, showcasing their creativity and understanding of the program's principles.
We were honored to have Mr. Wayne Elmore from Statesville, NC, as our guest speaker. With 16 years of experience in law enforcement, Mr. Elmore has served as a School Resource Officer (SRO) and D.A.R.E. Mentor. He shared a heartfelt story about the profound impact the D.A.R.E. program has had on his personal and professional life. Mr. Elmore emphasized how being an SRO has been one of the most important experiences of his career, leaving a lasting impression on students as they transition into adulthood.
We are incredibly proud of our students for their hard work and dedication. Congratulations to all our D.A.R.E. graduates!
5th Grade STEM Project: Engineering for Hurricane Resilience
Our 5th graders recently took on an exciting STEM project, working in collaborative pairs to design and build freestanding structures at least 5 inches tall that could withstand hurricane-force winds. This hands-on project was aligned with various science concepts, encouraging students to think creatively and solve problems using critical thinking skills. It was a fantastic opportunity for them to apply their knowledge in a practical and engaging way, showcasing their ingenuity and teamwork. Well done, 5th grade!
