Week 8
This week was a busy one here at MUMS! Students and staff have been working hard together to ensure that Quarter 1 work is completed prior to the Quarter end on November 1st. I would recommend you checking in with your student to understand how the Quarter is shaping up for them so that there aren't any surprises when you receive your child's report card in the mail.
Additionally, we are hard at work uploading PT conference information into our scheduling system. We plan to hold PT conferences on Friday November 1st 2024 throughout the day. We will offer in-person and virtual options at any time. The change in the structure is due to the Holiday that falls on Thursday evening October 31st. Please look for a communication from me on Monday containing information regarding sign ups for conferences.
Lastly, our fall sports are wrapping up in these next few weeks. Thanks to all of you for your support in making our fall athletics a success this year!

From the MYP Coordinators
In Mrs. Broderson’s Digital Design class, 8th graders learned how to use a Cricut, a craft plotter or cutting machine, to create a product of their choice that expressed some aspect of who they are. They had to consider both function and artistry in their design, and follow all steps of the design process, from exploring ideas to creating, testing and evaluating their products. Projects ranged from personalized t-shirts to jewelry, greeting cards, nightlights, and more. Enjoy the photos below! Ask an 8th grader in Digital Design what they worked on.

Color Fun Run is on for tomorrow October 19th, 2024
We hope to see all our students and families for this annual tradition. Fun pre-run activities start at 9am and include t-shirt decorating (t-shirts provided to students), colored hair spray and ribbons, face painting, lawn games, and a fun warm-up exercise. The run itself starts at 10am and is a short course (View Map Here) with 4 color stations. Runners will finish in a bubble pit back at the middle school!
This is the major yearly fundraiser for Friends of MUMS so we appreciate any and all donations. As of today we have raised $3730.00 which is a little less than half of our goal of $8000.00. To donate please visit the fun run site here https://myfunrun.com/mums.
We also need a few more volunteers to help on the day of the event, to view open spots and sign up please click here Fun Run Volunteer Sign Up

FY26 Budget Development - Community Input
This budget season, ACSD will be working to create a spending plan for FY 26 that protects and preserves the trust of our voters, advances the work of our strategic plan, and honors the values that have led to widespread and historic support of public education within our ACSD community. In that spirit, we invite community input as we develop the first draft of next year’s spending plan. It would help us to know the educational priorities we should hold in the highest regard, the constraints we should pay the greatest attention to, and the new work we should protect most carefully. We invite you to participate:
Dr. Wendy Baker submitted an Op-Ed to the October 17th issue of the Addison Independent that lays out the history and context as we enter the current budget season. We invite you to read this in Thursday’s Addison Independent.
On October 22nd at 6:00pm, we will host a community conversation and listening session to inform the first draft of our budget. This meeting will be held simultaneously in the MUHS library and at Bridport, Cornwall, Ripton, Salisbury, Shoreham, and Weybridge schools.
If you can’t attend, you can still share your thoughts using this survey. Please complete the survey by 9pm on October 22nd.
