Rochester Memorial Minute
November 24, 2024
There is always so much to be grateful for and I am grateful to lead Rochester Memorial School. The faculty and staff are always going above and beyond for our school, each other and our students. Our families and PTO have been so supportive and generous, whether it is volunteering time or donating classroom supplies or supporting our PTO events.
Our students bring us joy and laughter everyday and when we see all the learning connections happen we are full of pride and excitement for our students. Thank you RMS families for sharing your amazing students with us each day. RMS is a great school because of all of you and for that I am extremely grateful! On behalf of RMS, we wish everyone a restful and fun Thanksgiving Holiday.

Earn Book Tokens for the Book Vending Machine!
The Inchy Bookworm Book Vending Machine is a fun and motivating way for RMS students to earn book tokens. The goal of this PTO initiative is to inspire a love for reading and help RMS students build strong reading habits.
Grades K-2:
For students in Kindergarten through 2nd grade, the class works together to reach a goal of 1,000 reading minutes. Once the class reaches this goal, all students will receive a token for the Inchy Bookworm Book Vending Machine.
Grades 3-4:
For students in 3rd and 4th grade, the goal is 1,500 minutes of reading at home. After reaching this goal, students will earn a book token to choose a book from the vending machine.
Grades 5-6:
For students in 5th and 6th grades, the goal is 1,800 minutes of reading at home. After reaching this goal, students will earn a book token to choose a book from the vending machine.
Students and families can track and log reading minutes by using the Inchy Bookworm Book Vending Machine Reading Log.

Hour of Code is Coming Up in December
We are excited to announce that Rochester Memorial School will be participating in the Hour of Code again this year. The Hour of Code is a global event designed to introduce students to the world of computer science and programming. This event will take place from December 9th to 13th during library class.
By participating in the Hour of Code, our students will have the opportunity to:
Develop critical thinking skills by learning how to solve problems step by step.
Build creativity through interactive coding activities that allow them to create their own digital projects.
Gain confidence in using technology in a meaningful way.
Discover new interests and potentially spark a lifelong passion for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math).
The Hour of Code is not just an hour of learning to codeāit's an opportunity to spark curiosity, build skills, and inspire creativity. Whether a student is completely new to coding or has some experience, the Hour of Code is a chance for them to engage in the exciting world of computer science and discover the endless possibilities it offers.
