Message from Pathfinder Principal, Ms. Harris
As part of our safety focus this month, we will be practicing our earthquake emergency procedures. Normally we practice for a large earthquake as part of the Great Washington Shake Out in October with schools from across the state. This year, we decided to move the practice to May to support the best learning. This is a great opportunity for you to talk about earthquake preparedness and procedures with your family at home.
Important Dates and Details
Please join us for our Spring Showcase for Kindergarten!
Family members of kindergarten students are invited to come to Pathfinder and see what students have been learning! Our kindergarten Spring Showcase is scheduled for Wednesday, May 22 and Thursday, May 23. Due to limited parking, each pod will host their presentation at a different time. The pod schedule is below. Celebrations will begin in the classroom, and end in the A Gym which will feature songs and displays of student work. Please note that we do not have a kindergarten graduation ceremony at Pathfinder. We hope you can join us for our Spring Showcase to celebrate your child's year in kindergarten!
Class Photos and Pre-Order Individual Student Photos May 29 & 30
KIDS Photography will be at Pathfinder on May 29 and May 30 to take class photos and pre-ordered individual photos. KIDS Photography is providing another opportunity for individual student photos for families who would like one. Individual student photos will be taken only if a photo package is pre-ordered by May 28. Class photos will be taken of each Pathfinder class. All photos will be taken outside. Orders may be placed by returning the KIDS Photography order envelope (coming home soon), or by using the online link or QR code below.
The deadline to order all photos is Tuesday, May 28.
Fun Run - June 6
The Pathfinder Associated Student Body (ASB) sponsors one fundraiser each year - the annual Fun Run to be held on Thursday, June 6!
Kindergarten students will run laps and get exercise while earning money to support student activities. We hope to have all of our kindergarten students participate, stay active the entire time, and form healthy habits. This year our proceeds will go toward a variety of different student activities, including Bug Brag prizes, recess equipment, and field trips at a lower cost for families.
Watch for Fun Run envelopes to come home with kindergarten students on Monday, May 13 with information on how to collect donations to benefit Pathfinder students! Donations of any amount are appreciated and are considered a charitable contribution. The donation envelope will provide information on how to collect donations. This year, donations may be made using a credit/debit card, cash, or check payable to Pathfinder Kindergarten Center. No door to door sales, please.
Thank you for your support of Pathfinder students!
SUPPORT LEARNING AT HOME
Attendance Matters!
Our goal is to ensure that every student is present, engaged, and supported every day. Attending school on a regular basis sets your child up for success! If your child must miss class, make sure you report every absence to the school. You will receive attendance notifications each day your child is not present if you haven’t notified the school about an absence by 10 a.m. Mukilteo School District requires all absences to be reported to the office within 48 hours of each absence.
How do I report an absence?
Parents/guardians are required to contact the Pathfinder attendance line at (425) 366-3805 by 10 a.m. Please include your child’s name, teacher’s name, date of absence, reason for the absence, and parent’s name.
School attendance is recognized as a right and responsibility of all students and parents/guardians in the Mukilteo School District. Daily attendance is required in accordance with state law and school board policy.
Excused Absences
Students will be officially excused from a school day for the following reasons (authorized absences):
- Illness
- Family emergency
- Doctor or dentist appointment
- Religious or cultural purposes
- Court, judicial proceeding
- Homeless/foster care or student migrant status
- Deployment activities
- Temporary absences, up to five days in a school year, excused upon the request of a parent/guardian and agreed upon with the Dean of Students, provided that such excused absences shall not be permitted if deemed to cause a serious adverse effect upon the student's educational progress. A Pre-Arranged Absence form must be submitted and approved one week before the absences occur.
