OLVCS Updates
November 14th, 2024
Dear OLVCS Families,
Mass is canceled tomorrow due to a funeral. Students do NOT need to wear their Mass uniforms.
Our middle school families and students learned last night we have hired a MS Science teacher. Mr Joshua Gunter has a Master's in Secondary Education from Kent State, and is certified in both Science and Social Studies. He taught MS Social Studies in Ohio, and 7th, 9th-11th Social Studies at the Grier School. He recently finished at Delta as guest MS Science Teacher, and is currently the Assistant Girls Wrestling Coach at State High.
Our hope is that he will start next week, or the following, once all paperwork has been processed and finalized through the Diocesan Education Office.
We thank Mrs. Peters for stepping in and teaching this 1st quarter. She has done an amazing job, organizing, planning and instructing. I personally thank her for giving us time to find and hire a qualified teacher.
Mother Son Bowling will be Sunday, November 24th. This community building event has been a fan favorite for years! (details below)

Preschool News
Special visitors in the Polar Bear Class!
Our preschoolers had a wonderful time on Wednesday with ambassadors from Saint Joseph's Academy! The SJCA students spent time in the Polar Bear Class, sharing stories, smiles, and lots of fun. Itβs so heartwarming to see our little ones connect with big kids who are setting such a great example of faith, service, and leadership.
St. Joseph's Catholic Academy News
SJCA 2024 Fall Family Retreat - This Weekend
Jordan Langdon of Families of Character, is coming Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy! Jordan is a licensed clinical social worker with over 20 years of experience coaching parents and families, a Catholic wife and mom of three from Denver, CO, and the CEO of Families of Character, the "#1 resource for in-home child and family development."
Our Families of Character retreat will be focused on providing valuable tools for you and your spouse to utilize as partners and parents in a cohesive, Catholic family unit. We will intentionally take the time to grow together, prayerfully, to emerge from the weekend as more present, grace-giving, and confident captains of our "family team." We are so excited to share it with you!
As last year, SJCA will host a fall family weekend retreat, which is scheduled for November 15-16, 2024. Complimentary childcare will be provided, as last year, and all meals will be provided as well. The cost is $65 per couple. Sarah Miller, our new Development Assistant here at SJCA, will be organizing the event with me, so if you feel inclined to help volunteer as well as participate with your spouse, please reach out! Sarah's Saint Joe's contact is development@sjcacademy.org. The full agenda for the weekend is attached.
You will see posters for the event at church and in the bulletin soon, but to give you priority, and for more information here's the registration link:
Please let us know if you have any questions. We are looking forward to having you at Saint Joe's this fall!
Parish Happenings
The CCD program is in need of more guest teachers.
Even if you can only help out once in while, that would take the pressure off our regular guest teachers. Please let me know if you are willing to serve as a guest teacher or guest aide. Both are needed. Thanks and God bless!
