Principal Message
Welcome back!!!
We pray that this New Year will bring us closer to You.
May we take the time to get to know You.
Help us to truly celebrate the gifts You have graciously given us and use them to serve You and spread Your word,
May we also see and love you in all the people we meet, so that in turn, they can see You in us.
We know that all human relations take time if they are to grow and deepen.
This is also true of our relations with You, the Father and the Holy Spirit, which must grow over the course of our lives.
In this new year, let us realize that every action of ours no matter how great or small enables us to be in touch with You.
Let us accept You in our lives, in the way it pleases You,
as Truth, to be spoken,
as Life, to be lived,
as Light, to be lighted,
as Love, to be followed,
as Joy, to be given,
as Peace, to be spread about,
as Sacrifice, to be offered among our relatives,
friends, neighbours and all people.
Amen
God Bless.

A Reading From The Gospel for Sunday, January 1, 2023
May the light of our Creator guide us in this prayer of praise.
Almighty God, You are the light of the world!
Guide us with your radiance as we reflect your goodness in our lives.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen

Basket of Blessings
Once again this Advent, École OLPH School & EICS are continuing to partner with Catholic Social Services to support women and children at Lurana Shelter.
Please take a moment to watch this beautiful video https://vimeo.com/660535934
During the season of Advent, we are challenging École OLPH School to raise enough to purchase 10 Baskets (Each basket is about $100.)
Let's see if we can raise enough to purchase more than 10 baskets!
To donate, please click on the link below: https://www.canadahelps.org/me/n9z5AWku
Every little donation adds up to a large donation for Lurana Shelter.
Students can also bring in cash, in a clearly marked envelope or Ziploc with their name and homeroom to Mme Winland in the school office.
Let us open our hearts to help the women and children at the Lurana Shelter!!! We truly are Better Together!!!
God Bless
Lost & Found
Please take a moment to remind your child(ren) to go through the Lost and Found before the Christmas holidays.

Hot Lunch Reminder!
Please email the Hot Lunch Coordinator, Amanda, at olphschoolhotlunch@gmail.com, if your child is absent and you want to pick up their lunch, or if you'd like to have it redistributed to a sibling.
You MUST include the child's name AND class designation (ie: 5A, 7K, etc.) otherwise we cannot guarantee we can find your child's information. Our volunteers do not have access to the entire student list and class designations.
In order for the change to take place, you must email by 11:00 a.m. (please do NOT message us or Amanda on social media regarding hot lunch)
If you emailed about picking up their lunch, it will be available at the office AFTER 1:00 p.m.
Blessings,
Hot Lunch Coordinator
Reporting School Absences
Dear Parents,
As you have no doubt been watching and experiencing, Alberta has been suffering from high rates of RSV, Influenza and COVID-19.
We want to thank you for making the right choice to keep your children home when they are experiencing symptoms.
In order to help us have the best possible data and communicate with Alberta Health Services if required, we would ask that you report any flu or cold like symptom under the FLU heading in the School Messenger App.
Using Safe Arrival, parents can report:
- FLU - Illness due to flu and cold like symptoms
- ILL - Other illness or injury.
- EXC - Parent Excused (i.e. taking your child on a holiday)
Thanks for your attention to this matter, as always, we are working hard to ensure that all students and staff remain safe.
God Bless
Field Trip Reimbursements
Fees collected for field trips include admission to facilities, transportation, facilitator instruction costs, and the purchase of supplies/equipment. Transportation costs are divided equally among all students in the class / group.
Therefore, students who are absent on the day of the field trip will not be reimbursed transportation fees. Admission and material fees will be reimbursed where venues/presenters do not charge the school for the absence of the student.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact M. Morin at alyrem@eics.ab.ca or 780-467-5631.

Student Expectations
Student Tardy Expectations
Should your child arrive late to school in the mornings or the afternoon, please have them come to the front doors of the school and ring the doorbell located directly on the front door of the school. Mrs Winland will then let them into the school.
Student Pick Up Expectations
Should you require to pick up your child early from school, please either contact Mme Winland in the school office at 780-467-5631 upon your arrival and your child will be sent out to you at the time, alternatively, you may come into the school office and inform Mrs. Winland that you are here to pick up your child for an appointment.
All students will remain in their class until their parent arrives at the school.
Prior to leaving early, all students must check out with Mme Winland in the office.
Student Cell Phone Expectations
All student cell phones remain in their lockers during instructional time. Students will have access to their cell phones during their morning recess and their lunch hours.
Student End of Day Expectations
Please make sure that your child(ren) know if they are to take the bus or if they are getting picked up at the end of the day.
If a student comes to the office at the end of the day and are unsure if they are taking the bus or if you are picking them up, we will be sending them home on the bus.
School Doors
The school doors will be open at 8:35 a.m., unless the weather is extremely cold, whereas the doors will be open for students to wait quietly in the foyer.
École OLPH Staff Parking Expectations
École OLPH staff parking lot is a drop off and pick up free flowing zone. Your collaboration and consideration to others will be greatly appreciated to keep the traffic flow moving at all times.
