What: Gift Cards to Wal-Mart, Target, or Amazon
Where: Label the cards "Beverly PTA Gift Card Drive" and bring them to the front office

Counselor Classroom Lessons
December 2nd-January 10th
Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd Grade lessons will be taught the week of December 2nd:
Kindergarten- The OK BookAsk your student: What are you really good at? What are you "ok" at (what are you still learning to do)?
1st Grade- What I Am Video by Will.i.am
Ask your student: What makes you special? What makes your friends special? How can you celebrate your talents and the talents of others?
2nd Grade- Zero
Ask your student: What gives you value? Who are the people in your life that help you feel valued?
3rd, 4th, and 5th grade lessons will be taught the week of January 6-10th
3rd Grade- Spoon
Ask your student: Have you ever been jealous of someone else for something they have or something are good at? What are the things that make you special?
4th Grade- The Girl Who Never Made Mistakes
Ask your student: Why is it okay to make mistakes? How can we take some pressure of off ourselves and give ourselves a chance to learn and grow?
5th Grade-
Ask your student: What are some common feelings you experience? How can you identify the feelings of others? Why is it important to do so?
December 9th-20th: Emotional Regulation (All Grade Levels K-5)
Self-regulation is the ability to manage your emotions and behavior. It includes being able to resist highly emotional reactions to upsetting stimuli, calming yourself down when you get upset, adjusting to a change in expectations, and handling frustration without an outburst. It is a set of skills that enables children, as they mature, to direct their own behavior toward a goal, despite the unpredictability of the world and their own feelings.
Earlier this year, all students learned about the Zones of Regulation. We discussed how we might feel in each zone and how our bodies may respond. We also discussed ways to get back to the green zone.
During the month of December, we will look at more emotional regulation strategies and practice them in counselor class. I am happy to introduce Regulation Station Exploration! Students will have the opportunity to visit all of these stations and practice calming strategies that can get them back to learning behavior! Check out some of the stations in the link below:
