A Note from Mr. Shaughnessy
What a fabulous first week at LP Brown! Our students are the best in all of the land. Thank you, parents and caregivers, for sharing your amazing children with us. This start to the school year has been the best that I have seen. I am excited for you all to meet the LP Brown staff this year! We have an incredibly dedicated and enthusiastic group of educators working with your kids every day.
Be patient with us as we start the year. We are starting slow and taking our time to build the positive, trusting relationships that are essential for learning. You can ask kids how their morning meetings went each day. Talk about recess and making friends. Ask about fun team-building activities and projects they are doing in their classrooms. We have such an amazing school. I feel really lucky to be an Eagle!
Snack Donations Please
We love snack donations and there are two ways to donate snacks.
- Buy snacks from the store and bring them to school for your classroom teacher! (No nuts please)
- Donate money through our donation link for Mr. Shaughnessy to purchase snacks through our childhood nutrition department.
Picture Day September 25th
Individual and class pictures will happen on Wednesday, September 25th, during the school day. Students are encouraged, but not required, to dress nicely on this day.
We have a new picture vendor this year. We will be partnering with Lifetouch. They have a really user-friendly interface that will be easy to use for ordering purposes. They will also manage our yearbook. Picture order forms will come home in Monday Folders on Monday the 16th of September.
Just wanted you to have a heads up about this day in advance.
Birthday Celebrations
We love celebrating birthdays as they happen through the school year. We believe in the importance of celebrating each individual student in our school as often as possible. If you are interested in celebrating with us, I offer a couple of basic guidelines to help us work together:
- Please, please, no candy-cookies-cupcakes-cakes-donuts... With the sheer volume of birthdays in a school of 325 kids, we could be eating cupcakes on a daily basis and that is not healthy for us.
- Please work with your teacher to come up with creative ideas if you want to do something fun. Think of a fun game the class can play, come up with some small tangible item that is non-edible
We will be finding ways to help kids celebrate each other by spending quality time together. Thank you for your help with all of the great birthday celebrations we get to do each year.
