Focus on FCPS

Dr. Hummer held the first of three FCPS Budget Town Hall Meetings last night. There are two more opportunities to participate. This is a time for parents, staff and members of the community to learn more about the proposed FY25 budget and to ask questions and offer feedback. The next meeting on February 22 will offer a virtual option for those not able to attend in person. Virtual attendees may submit questions ahead of time by emailing their questions to Communications@fcpsk12.net.
The remaining Town Hall meetings will take place on the following dates:
- Thursday, February 22 at 5:30 p.m. - Sherando High School (in-person and virtual)
- Monday, March 4 at 5:30 p.m. - Millbrook High School
Happy Valentine's Day from FCPS!

Inclement Weather
As the chance for winter weather approaches, we want to remind you about FCPS inclement weather procedures. When possible, the decision to delay or close will be made the night before. If that is not possible, a decision will be made in the morning prior to 6:00 a.m. and calls, emails, text messages and an app notification will be sent out through the Rapid Communication System. In addition, the message will be posted on Facebook, the division and all school websites, and various television and radio stations.

Redbud Run Students Participate in Mock Shark Tank
Shark Tank was the final presentation portion of the fifth grade's Makerlab unit. In this unit, students learn about inventors, copyright, trademark, budgeting and marketing. Students create two prototypes of inventions. Students then choose the invention they like best and create a budget and marketing plan. Teams pitch their invention to the mock Shark Tank panel to request funding for their idea. Dr. Hummer jumped in as a guest judge!
