CCS Update 2.10.25

Love the Bus month
Inclement Weather
With 6 more weeks of winter (thanks Punxsutawney Phil!), there is a possibility for inclement weather. Make sure you sign up for notifications from CCPS to find out if there are weather-related delays or closings: CCPS Notification System - Calvert County Public School District
Closings and delays will also be on the CCPS website and local news stations. Please stay informed.
Two-hour delay for students Wednesday unless there is a weather-related closing.
SECAC Awards nominations
The Calvert County Special Education Citizen's Advisory Committee (SECAC) is calling on parents and guardians to nominate a CCPS staff member (individual or team) who has made a positive impact on the life of their child who has an IEP, IFSP or 504 accommodations during the 2024-2025 school year. Nominations are due by Friday, Feb. 28th. Scan the QR code below to complete the form or visit https://www.calvertnet.k12.md.us/secac.
Infectious Illnesses
To promote a healthy school environment, if you are having symptoms of illness, screening for infectious illness such as COVID, influenza, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and gastrointestinal infections prior to coming to school continues to be the best way to prevent spread of communicable illness. Remember--you must be symptom-free for 24 hours prior to return to school.
Read & Hit a Home Run ⚾
CCS is participating in the Chesapeake Baysox “Read & Hit a Home Run” Reading Program, sponsored by Educational Systems Federal Credit Union. The Baysox are the Class AA Minor League Baseball Affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles. This program provides an incentive for students to read a minimum of 4 books inside or outside of school, from January through mid-March, to receive two free tickets to a Chesapeake Baysox Game! The program is open to public, private and homeschools and there is no cost to participate. CCPS has selected Saturday, April 12th at 6:35pm for their game night. If your child is unable to attend the selected game date, their ticket is valid for Sunday, April 27th at 1:05pm. Your original game ticket can be exchanged at the reading program table on the front pad in front of the stadium on the 27th. Please review the flyer that will be sent home in weekly folders. If you have any questions, reach out to the Chesapeake Baysox at sbowen@baysox.com or call 301-464-4871.
