The Cougar Connection
Lafayette Elementary January 6th
Dear Cougar Families,
We hope you had a restful and enjoyable break! Megan spent time in Massachusetts with her nephew and family, treated herself to desserts, read some books, and did a bit of cleaning. Robin visited family and friends in Wisconsin.
Today, our dedicated staff focused on preparing for the second semester and finalizing student report cards. Report cards will be available on January 13th through Infinite Campus. For instructions on accessing them, please see the Report Card Access Directions for Families HERE. If you have any questions, please contact Patty Gruber, our Registrar, at 720-561-8900.
Kindergarten Registration is Open!
Do you have a child starting Kindergarten next year? Or do you know friends, family, or neighbors with a future Kindergartener? Now is the time to register! Early registration helps us plan appropriately and ensure we have the staff to welcome our new Lafayette students.

Colorado Read Act Feedback
CDE Wants to Hear From You!
We would like to hear from parents about your child's experience with the Colorado READ Act and its observed impact.
As you may know, the Colorado READ (Reading to Ensure Academic Development) Act provides funding and a framework for improving literacy outcomes for kindergartners through third graders, particularly those with “Significant Reading Deficiencies” (SRDs) who are at risk to not read at grade level by third grade. The Colorado Department of Education (CDE) has been working with WestEd and its partners to conduct a legislatively mandated evaluation of the READ Act since March 2020.
The survey should take no more than 10-15 minutes to complete, and all responses will be kept confidential.
We are only asking you to complete the survey if your child has ever been identified as having a significant reading deficiency (SRD) and/or has ever been given a READ plan.
If you have multiple children in kindergarten through grade 3 who have been identified as having a significant reading deficiency, please complete a separate survey for each child.
Thank you in advance for your participation in this parent survey. We greatly appreciate your time and willingness to share your experience.
Please click on the link below to participate in the survey: [https://westedk12enterprise.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_2fOPS3CNxGFzDg2]
Counselor's Corner
Dear Families,
Happy New Year! I hope this message finds you well as we welcome January and all the opportunities it brings.
As we begin this new semester, I want to remind you of the importance of setting goals for the year ahead. Encourage your child to reflect on what they would like to achieve academically and personally. Together, we can help them stay focused and motivated.
BVSD is committed to the health and safety of all students during their entire academic career, as such, we are pleased to have Blue Sky Bridge join us in speaking on Thursdays: 1/9, 1/16, & 1/23, and on Friday 1/31. A brief overview of topics to be covered in these presentations include Understanding Personal Space/Boundary Setting, Consent, Healthy Relationships, and Internet safety. Parents and Guardians can learn more about student lessons, join online parent learning sessions, and find additional resources here.
