SMS Pet of the Week
Meet Dakota, part of the Wendorf Family. Dakota thinks everyone is her bestie and will ask you for belly rubs when she meets you!
SMS Pet of the Week
Meet Luna, part of the Lutter Family. Luna is a mini lop and she is a sassy bunny filled with expectations of treats from anyone who enters her space. She loves her human sister though!
PM Pick-up Reminders
Please pick-up students once you are in the line and parked; we do not want students crossing multiple lanes of traffic and getting into vehicles on the road, as that is not only unsafe but stops the flow of traffic. This is also just a friendly reminder to follow all traffic signs/laws on the roads, as those are still in place.
Thank you for helping us get everyone out safely and in as timely of a manner as possible!

Homecoming Events and Reminders
As we prepare for this weekend’s homecoming festivities, we kindly ask for your assistance to ensure a fun and safe experience for everyone. This is a special time of year filled with school and community pride, and with that spirit in mind, we are seeking your help with two important matters.
First, during the parade, we would greatly appreciate your help in ensuring that students and children are properly supervised and reminded to stay safe, especially around moving vehicles and parade floats. While we know it’s exciting for the children to collect candy, their safety is our top priority. Additionally, after the parade concludes, please take a moment to pick up any trash left behind. Your efforts will help keep our great community looking its best!
Second, at the football game, we’ve noticed groups of students running around in busy areas during previous events, playing games like tag. We kindly request that children under twelve be supervised by parents or chaperones throughout the evening to prevent any potential issues. Thankfully, no major incidents have occurred, and with your help, we aim to keep it that way.
As a reminder, the middle school will be dismissing at 2:20 PM on Friday, September 27th to allow students time to make it to the homecoming festivities.
Let’s make this weekend all about celebrating and cheering on our Slinger Owls, while enjoying the school and community spirit together! Thank you for your support and cooperation.

Adopt-a-Highway Activity
Are you looking for a way to meet new friends, make a difference in the Slinger Community, and get some exercise?! Here is your chance! Slinger Middle School is part of the Wisconsin Department of Transportation’s Adopt-a-Highway-Program.
Two times a year we meet to clean up litter along our designated stretch of highway. Students, parents, teachers and adult friends are welcome to help keep our roadsides clean and attractive! Everything will be provided by the DOT (safety vests, garbage bags) with safety for all participants being stressed. All you have to do is show up, do some walking, and clean up debris.
We will be cleaning Highway 175 from Scenic Road to Highway 60 (you will be cleaning a one mile stretch of road). Although your participation is encouraged/appreciated you are not obligated to help in the program every time we do this! We will need adult supervision and invite parents and other adults to join us.
Our clean-up will take place Saturday,October 19. We will meet at Slinger Middle School at 9:00 A.M. (upper lot). Plan on picking up students in the school’s upper lot between 10:45 A.M. and 11:15 A.M.
Please complete the form found here and return it to your child’s homeroom teacher by Friday, May 3.

Character Strong
One of the aims at our school is to equip young people for all the realities of today’s world. With that in mind, we have partnered with CharacterStrong – an organization that provides training for educators and curricula for students. Their work focuses on 3 main outcomes: increasing a sense of belonging for all students, improving skills that support student well-being, and deepening student engagement in their academics, in their school, and in their community.
Students will be engaged in these lessons on select Wednesdays throughout the year during their GRIT time. Upcoming lessons will be shared out with families so that you can engage in conversations around these characteristics with your child.
Attached are the descriptions of each upcoming lesson. If you have any questions related to Character Strong, please email kelly.pokrzywa@slingerschools.org or kylie.carbol@slingerschools.org
