January 2019
Mrs. Katie Towler, Career Academy Principal
Our inaugural semester in the newly renovated Career Academy is coming to a close. On January 16th we will welcome some new faces and start a new round of semester long courses. Our students who participate in year-long courses have learned the ropes and will continue to bring energy and enthusiasm to their programs of study. Our hope is that every student who enters our space does so with a renewed sense of curiosity, creativity, and passion for learning.
If you, or someone you know, would like to see more of what we have going on in the Career Academy please contact us at 712) 276-6668. We are eager to partner with businesses and individuals in our community.
Mr. Jeff Lucas, Guidance Counselor
Seniors, January begins the stretch where many scholarships deadlines start. Continue to check the scholarship lists at your home high school and the Career Academy Twitter feed. Along with upcoming scholarship deadlines, there are many other items to be aware of, but not limited to.
*** Taking any additional transferrable college credit courses
*** Additional ACT score for scholarship opportunities and for freshman year course placement
*** Housing deposit deadline (Spring of 2019)
***Signing up for freshman orientation (spring of 2019)
Juniors, spring is a great time to look at taking campus visits to schools you are interested in. Colleges have spring visit dates. If you are not able to attend a spring visit date, you can always schedule an individual visit through the admissions office.
Course registration for the 2019-20 school year will take place sometime between January 21 thru February 15th. Students that have questions about Career Academy courses can schedule a time to see Mr. Lucas for info course sequences and college credit options.
