Celebrate Sherwood Schools: Middleton Elementary Month
Our district's theme for this year is "Celebrate Sherwood Schools!" This year-long theme is all about celebrating what is great about our schools, focusing on the achievements of our amazing students -- and on expressing our gratitude to you, our parents and families, for your role in those achievements!
As part of this year-long focus on celebration, each month we have highlighted one of the schools in our district. This month, please join us in celebrating Middleton Elementary School!
First opened in 2001, Middleton Elementary is home to 402 students and 65 teachers & staff. Middleton is home to a number of wonderful programs for young learners, including PreKindergarten, the Skills Center Program, METV (a school TV channel hosted by 5th grade anchors), the Mustang Managers mentors program, Choir, and Chess Club.
Like so many of our schools, Middleton has a strong school community that always comes together to support its students and staff. This is reflected in the school’s Mission Statement, which reads:
At Middleton, we are an inclusive, welcoming community that encourages kindness and academic excellence. We recognize the diverse experience of our students and staff so that everyone may be inspired, have purpose, and feel loved.
Earlier this year, a portion of the school was damaged by the severe winter weather, resulting in construction that caused PreK through 2nd grade classes to be relocated to other locations during construction. The school community worked together to make sure student learning would continue and that all Middleton students and families would stay connected during this challenging transition. This week, students and staff were finally able to be reunited at the Middleton campus as all grades returned to school in their newly repaired classrooms on Wednesday -- and in true Mustang fashion, the welcome back was a celebration for all!
We invite you to join us in celebrating Middleton Elementary during the month of April! To learn more about Middleton Elementary, visit their website at https://me.sherwood.k12.or.us/.
Another great way to celebrate Middleton is to support the Middleton Elementary PAC! For information on fundraising, volunteer needs and more, visit https://www.middletonpac.org/ or follow on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/MiddletonPAC).
Bowmen Theatre Presents: Emma! A Pop Musical
Bowmen Theatre is proud to present its production of Emma! A Pop Musical at the SHS Auditorium April 12-13 and April 18-20. All performances start at 7:00pm. Tickets are on sale now -- $12 for adults, and $10 for students and seniors -- and can be purchased at the door or in advance at bowmentheatre.com/tickets.
Emma, a senior at Highbury Prep, is certain she knows what's best for her classmates' love lives, and is determined to find the perfect boyfriend for shy sophomore Harriet by the end of the school year. But will Emma's relentless matchmaking get in the way of finding her own happiness? Based on Jane Austen's novel, this sparkling new musical features the hit songs of legendary girl groups and iconic female singers from The Supremes to Katy Perry. Girl power has never sounded so good!
