Mambo
Cuba
History of Mambo
The mambo dance originated in Cuba where there were settlements of Haitians. The fusion of swing and Cuban music produced the rhythm and created the dance. It first appeared in the United States in New York's park plaza ballroom. The mambo dance was introduced in 1943 at La Tropicana night club in Havana. Most people treat the mambo as a fast dance but it is a slow and precise dance that doesn't move very much.
