End of Semester Schedules for December 19 & 20
Students attend two half-days as part of Leyden’s end of semester schedule. December 19 (day 1) and 20 (day 2), students attend from 7:35 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Grab and go lunches are provided both days.
Inspirational Eagles named at Leyden
On December 12, the Chicago-O’Hare Rotary, in partnership with Leyden, honored the following twelve students in its 10th annual Inspirational Eagle Awards: Nicole Marie Cychosz, Jonathan Galvan, Darla Giannoulis, Olesia Kulinich, Jesus Mata Osuna and Andre Sebastian Perez (East Leyden); Neo Alexander, Josh Armedilla, Grace Dillon, Xitlaly Lara, Taevion Norris and Jeffrey Pineda (West Leyden).
The purpose of these awards are to expand what is typically acknowledged in terms of academics and athletics, and instead to honor students for accomplishments in self improvements, overcoming adversity, and contributions to the community.

Music Department presents holiday concert
The Leyden Music Department presents The Music of the Holidays Concert on Tuesday, December 17, in the East Leyden Auditorium. Join Leyden's band and choir for a festive evening as they perform holiday favorites. The performance starts at 7 p.m. and admission is free.
Senior photos taken in January
Senior yearbook photos will be taken January 13, and January 14, in the auditorium at West and on the Mezzanine at East, during English classes, and after school until 3:10 p.m. The make-up date for seniors will be January 21. Orders can be placed through hrimaging.com. Pre-order forms will be available in advisory and student services from January 7 -10. Please contact vgiordano@leyden212.org with any questions.
Bowling athletes earn top spots in state
Christina Hoenisch and Emilie Karas earned spots in the Special Olympics state bowling competition after strong performances in the divisional regionals in July and sectionals in October. Christina finished in 4th place, while Emilie took 1st place, earning her the title of state champion.
Catering students visit Michael Jordan's Steakhouse
West Leyden catering students toured Michael Jordan's Steakhouse, exploring both the front of the house and behind-the-scenes operations. They learned about key aspects of the restaurant industry, including financial management, inventory, and staff training. A highlight of the trip was the hands-on experience of plating a professional steakhouse entrée.
Girls gymnastics competes in invitational
The Girls Gymnastics team competed in the Rolling Meadows Invitational on Saturday, December 7, and had an impressive showing. Leyden earned several top finishes, with Val Barbosa taking 3rd place on Vault, Chloe Stephens finishing 4th on Floor Exercise, and Brooke Hedke securing 8th place on Vault. Additionally, Julian Zorniak placed 10th on Beam.

Leyden receives generous donation from ECOS
Once again, ECOS, a cleaning supply company dedicated to creating safer, environmentally-friendly cleaning products, has shown incredible generosity by donating cleaning supplies, soaps, and detergents to support the Leyden Food Pantry. A heartfelt thank you to Kelly Vlahakis-Hanks and Joe Janssen of ECOS for their ongoing contributions over the past two years.
