Dear Eagle Families,
We believe in the power of partnership when it comes to your child's education, and one of the most significant opportunities for this connection is approaching— Parent-Teacher Conferences, October 7th-9th!
We encourage all families to prioritize attending our upcoming parent-teacher conferences. These meetings are crucial for building a strong partnership between home and school. They provide an opportunity to gain insights into your child’s progress, discuss strategies for success, and address any questions or concerns you may have. Your active involvement plays a pivotal role in your child’s educational growth. Please reach out to your child’s teacher if you need information about scheduling a conference.
Thank you for your ongoing support in creating a thriving learning environment for our Eagles. We look forward to connecting with you!
Sincerely,
Carole Oliphant
Principal

St. Vrain Valley Schools Hosts Annual Musical Instrument Drive
Donate gently used musical instruments to support St. Vrain Valley Schools' music program during our annual collection drive. Students at all grade levels are learning to use Thinking Maps to improve comprehension and writing. Check out some of their learning that occurred during the last two weeks!
4th graders in Mrs. Alexy’s class created a tree map and wrote a paragraph about habitats in danger after reading a story about porpoises in peril.
5th graders in Mrs. Parsons' class created bubble maps about a place they might want to live so they can compare it to the setting of the book they recently finished reading. Then they shared their maps with a partner and asked questions to generate new ideas for their maps before writing!
1st graders used tree maps to help them write complex sentences!
3rd graders in Mrs. Zamudio’s class created a circle map to prepare for writing about a time they had a problem. Then they created a flow map to organize their narrative.
After reading ‘Alexander, Who Used to Be Rich Last Sunday’ 2nd graders in Miss Lane’s class created circle maps to capture their ideas about why Alexander says ‘goodbye to money’. 2nd graders in Mrs. Olsen’s class created circle maps to describe the main character in the story.
Attendance Matters-- STRIVE FOR FIVE
Families play a key role in making sure students get to school safely every day. Help your child understand why attendance is so important for success in school-- and in life--and STRIVE FOR FIVE or fewer absences!
Our goal this year is to ensure that every student attends school regularly, meaning five or fewer absences over the course of the school year. We realize that some absences are unavoidable due to health problems or other concerns. However, planning ahead to minimize avoidable absences ensures students are more likely to have regular attendance in spite of the occasional illness. We're here to support you every step of the way. Please call the office at 720-494-3641 if your child will be absent. If your child accumulates eight absences, we will be in touch to provide additional assistance and resources. We genuinely appreciate your collaboration in this effort to prioritize the learning and growth of every student, every day.

The Colorado School Nutrition Association is seeking input on free school meals: The implementation of providing free meals to all students has led to a financial shortfall due to insufficient tax revenue collected to support the program. The information collected through the HSMA Public Feedback Form will play a critical role in shaping the future of school nutrition funding and policies, and it will be compiled for presentation to the Colorado Joint Budget Committee.
Here’s why your participation is so important:
Key Insights: Parent input is vital to understanding the positive impact of HSMA on school nutrition programs and the long term health and wellness of our students.
Advocacy: The feedback will directly influence policy makers' decisions regarding school meal funding and other critical issues at the state level. The bottom line is that to keep this program universally free for all students, additional revenue sources must be secured.
Timeline: All responses must be submitted by September 30, 2024, to ensure that we can present comprehensive data to the Committee.
Please use this link to access and share the HSMA Feedback Form: click here
