Welcome Message by Dr. Lawson
Dear Zion Elementary School District 6 Community,
I am excited to introduce myself as the new Superintendent of Zion Elementary School District 6, effective July 1, 2024. I understand the challenges the district has faced over the past three years and am both grateful and committed to being here. I want to express my sincere gratitude to the School Board of Education and the interim superintendents for their positive support during this transition. Their dedication has established a solid foundation, and I am honored to build upon their efforts.
I join this district with enthusiasm and a strong commitment to our students. Returning to Illinois, where I have spent many years of my career, I look forward to working collaboratively with all of you to serve our school community. My primary goal is to ensure that every student receives a high-quality education that prepares them for success in the 21st century. I am dedicated to fostering a culture of academic excellence, innovation, and inclusivity, and I believe that strong partnerships with families, staff, local government, and community leaders are crucial to this mission.
I am committed to creating an environment where every child and staff member feels valued, supported, and motivated to reach their full potential. By addressing the individual needs of each member of our school community, we can provide a personalized learning experience that promotes growth and achievement.
Additionally, I am eager to strengthen our support for families. Recognizing the importance of family involvement in student success, I am dedicated to building strong relationships with parents and guardians. Together, we can create a supportive network that enhances our students' educational experiences. Fostering a sense of belonging is essential to our mission, as we aim to create a space where all families, students, staff, and community members feel welcomed, included, and an integral part of our school family.
In the coming months, I look forward to learning more about your priorities and exploring opportunities for collaboration that will benefit our students and the community. By working together, we can create a nurturing and enriching environment for our young learners.
As we start the new school year, I warmly welcome our families and staff. I am excited to build strong relationships and work together to make this year a great success for our students.
Sincerely,
Dr. Julious Lawson
Superintendent
