NED Assembly Coming Soon
On Tuesday, December 3, we will experience the NED Assembly. Our school received the assembly focused on N - Never give up, E - Encourage others, and D - Do your best at no cost due to another school paying it forward with their yo-you sales. Following the assembly, we will offer the NED yo-yos for sale in our office. All students will bring home a flyer, and you can see the information below. There is absolutely no purchase necessary.

Calm Corners - Support for Self-Management
Many of our classrooms use a Calm Down area to allow students to take a break when they need it. This is a specific area in the room with resources to support students when they are not feeling ready to learn due to emotions or thoughts.
A calm down area provides a child a place to calm down and take a break. It is one strategy that might be used when children are feeling anxious, stressed, or overwhelmed. Families can help children learn how to take a break from activities or interactions that are challenging to them. Just like adults, young children might react to stress, frustration, and disappointment by becoming angry, shouting, refusing help from adults, or engaging in other challenging behaviors. Adults might use helpful strategies such as self-talk, deep breathing, or taking a break when they are feeling the need to take a break and calm down. The calm down area provides children with a place to let go of strong emotions and begin to feel calm and ready to engage with others again. For more information on calm down areas and how this can be used at home, click here to read the complete article or click the image above.

Panorama Named to the Honor Roll
Educational Results Partnership (ERP) has released the annual Honor Roll list of California’s top performing schools and districts. This is the tenth year that ERP has completed the Honor Roll list, which recognizes top public schools, school districts and charter schools that have outperformed their peers in closing achievement gaps, particularly among higher-poverty and historically disadvantaged student populations.
The Honor Roll shines a positive light on schools where students are learning the fundamental skills that employers value and look for. This effort is part of a national campaign to engage business leaders in recognizing successful schools and educational systems and promote best practices that improve student outcomes and prepare them with the fundamental skills needed to be successful in the workforce and in life. The Honor Roll is the only school recognition program presented in partnership with state and local business leaders, using solely objective student achievement data as the criteria for recognition.

Attendance
If your child is absent, please call the office at 714-997-6265 or email Miss Cindi at cynthia.walsh@orangeusd.org to let us know why your child is not at school.
If you know your child will be absent in advance and you would like them to do work to receive credit for attendance, please contact the office as soon as possible. We can create an independent study contract for absences of any length, as long as the teacher has sufficient notice to prepare work. Three days used to be the minimum amount, but now we can do it for one day. By completing the work, your child will receive full credit on completed work during the time they are not at school, and their attendance will not be affected. If a child misses school due to a personal reason, this becomes a truancy; however, if your child completes their independent study contract it does not count as an absence.
