SHADY GROVE MATTERS WEEKLY UPDATE
June 9, 2024
THE ADMINISTRATOR'S CORNER
Greetings, Shady Grove families. This is Dr. Murray with your weekly announcement. This is the LAST Sunday announcement of the 23-24 school year…and it is a busy one! On Monday, June 10, 2024, the 8th graders will be going to Hershey Park. The 6th and 7th grade students will be participating in a Field day experience on Monday, June 10, 2024. The 6th and 7th grade students will be cleaning out their locker as well on that day. On Tuesday, June 11, 2024, we will be holding the 8th grade breakfast. Thank you, PTA, for hosting this wonderful event for our students. On June 12, 2024, we will be hosting the 6th and 7th grade Awards assembly. Our 8th grade promotion will be held at Magruder High School at 6:00 pm. We are looking forward to welcoming the community to say goodbye to the 8th graders as they transition to Magruder High School. This 8th grade, ably led by Ms. Merino, Ms. Jones and Ms. Tran was kind, caring, thoughtful and curious during their time at Shady Grove Middle School. We wish them the best of luck in all of their future endeavors!
For seven years, I’ve been honored to serve as the “PROUD” Principal of Shady Grove Middle School. In the words of Queen Elizabeth I, “The path, of course, is not always smooth, and may at times this year have felt quite bumpy, but small steps can make a world of difference.” I am grateful in the most challenging year of my life, I’ve felt the love of this great community behind me. Throughout my tenure as principal, I’ve loved getting to know the students, staff and caregivers in this amazing community. I am going to miss all of you. However, I know that I will always have a place in the Shady Grove community. Once a Timberwolf, always a Timberwolf. I hope that you have a fun-filled and relaxing summer. In the next couple of weeks, there will be an announcement about a new principal. I am sure that they will be reaching out to the community. Until then, that is all for now #TimberwolfNation! Wishing you all a fantastic week!
~Dr. Murray
