A Message from the Principal
Dear Woodland Families,
As we continue to navigate the busy parent pick up line, I wanted to take a moment to send out a friendly reminder:
Cell Phone Etiquette: While waiting in the parent pick-up line, please remember to prioritize safety by refraining from using your cell phones. Your attention to the flow of traffic and the safety of our children is paramount. Let's ensure that our focus remains on the road and the safety of everyone around us.
Traffic Flow: As you exit the school parking lot, please turn right at the traffic light whenever possible. This simple act helps to ease congestion and keeps the traffic moving smoothly for everyone. By making this small adjustment to your route, you contribute to a more efficient and stress-free experience for all parents and students.
Thank you for your collaboration on this issue!
Beginning on Monday, May 6th, we will be celebrating Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week. We appreciate our teachers and staff all year round, but are excited to shower our staff with love and appreciation next week. We are fortunate to have excellent, caring, and resourceful staff members here at Woodland. If you have a moment, I know that they would love and appreciate any kind message you would like to send them. Our PTO has planned an amazing week for them. Thank you to all of you who have helped support this by sending in items. Watch for pictures on the Woodland and the PTO Facebook pages!
I am also looking forward to Mrs. Hockman's and Mrs. McNaughton's music concert on Tuesday, May 7th at 6:30pm and Ms. Casolari's, Mrs. Jalkanen's and Ms. Wheeler's music concert on Wednesday, May 29th at 6pm. Mrs. Petipren has been busy preparing our musicians and I know that the kids are going to put on a great show!
Also, don't forget about our Art Show and Ice Cream Social on Thursday, May 9th from 5-8pm. Ms. Green has worked tirelessly many days after school to make sure that the Woodland Art Show is a huge success.
Enjoy your weekend,
Mrs. Katalin Rosinski
Principal

Positivity Project
This week, we worked on Appreciation of Beauty and Excellence as part of our P2 Positivity Project. This means you notice and value the world's beauty and people's skills. You don't take things for granted.
Appreciation of beauty and excellence is the ability to identify and enjoy that which is admirable in the world. There are three types of goodness in which positive psychology focuses: physical beauty (e.g. a sunset, song, or building): an exceptional skill or talent; and moral goodness (e.g. a character strength). Appreciation of beauty can generate awe; appreciation of a skill can generate admiration; and appreciation of moral goodness can generate moral elevation. All of these feelings (awe, admiration, and moral elevation) help us forget ourselves and find increased joy and meaning in the world.
Why Does It Matter?
Appreciating excellence and beauty helps an individual experience positive emotions and connect to the world around him/her. It's an outward facing strength, meaning the individual is focused on the world outside his/her head. The individual is often deeply absorbed in a sense of awe or admiration, freeing him/her to forget anxieties and troubles.
To practice and encourage the character strength of integrity with your child, please visit the Positivity Project’s P2 for Families (password: P2), where together you will watch a video, read a quote, and talk about the answers to three questions.
Next week, we will focus on Enthusiasm as part of our P2 Positivity Project.
Wear Your Gym Shoes
As the weather gets warmer, PE with Mr. Daniels will be heading outdoors to run. Please have your child wear their gym shoes every day (maybe not their new ones, because the ground is still muddy!).
Please Pack an Extra Change of Clothes
