We cordially invite you to our Champions Dinner on May 16, 2024 from 5:00-8:00pm where our community comes together to celebrate all of our achievements from the current school year and envision our school year ahead. There will be a community resource fair from 5:00-6:00pm and the dinner and discussion event from 6:00-8:00pm. Please RSVP using the form below or by going to ms50.org/csforum. Is your child interested in giving a senior speech at graduation? We are looking for two 8th graders to deliver inspirational speeches to their peers at graduation. If your child is interested, they need to turn in a draft of their speech by June 10 to their ELA teacher. A committee of MS 50 staff members will review the speeches and select the two speeches that will to be delivered at graduation. Attached is an explanation of what needs to be turned in as well as a rubric the committee will use to make their selections.
6th Grade- Hidden Truths
In this unit, students will discover the hidden truths that stories, poems, and dramas can reveal. The texts we will read center on the Essential Question “What hidden truths about people and the world are revealed in stories?” This open-ended question is intended to spark thoughtful discussion. Additionally, our students will participate in discussion based book clubs to complement the work being done in this unit.
7th Grade- Game On
8th Grade- The Legacy of Anne Frank
In this unit, we will learn about the story of Anne Frank and other survivors of the Holocaust. The texts we will read center on the Essential Question “What can we learn from tragic events?”Additionally, our students will participate in discussion based book clubs to complement the work being done in this unit.

One of our goals this year is for every student at MS 50 to complete 30 minutes of i-Ready ELA lessons and 30 minutes of i-Ready math lessons as part of their homework every week. Teachers will check the previous week’s work every Monday. Students can use their @nycstudents account to log into i-Ready by visiting clever.com.
If logging in on an iPad, you must first download and login to the Clever app. You can then launch i-Ready from Clever and students will be logged in. Download this information sheet for more detailed instructions.
