WELCOME BACK
Welcome to Westminster High School's Monthly Athletics and Activities Newsletter! As we kick off the fall sports season, we're thrilled to see our students back in action, showcasing their talents and dedication. This year promises to be one of growth, achievement, and memorable moments. Together, let's strive for excellence both on and off the field. Here's to a successful and exciting year ahead. Go WOLVES!
NO DAYS OFF
Just because it was summer, doesn't mean students rested, WOLVES get better everyday. Take a look below at some of the things our teams did this summer.
BOYS BASKETBALL
The Boys Basketball team welcomed new coach Gilbert Guo over the summer. The team spent time getting to know each other and got a few games in too!
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
The Girl's Volleyball team traveled to Greeley to stay at The University of Northern Colorado. It was a great experience of bonding and competition.
BOYS FOOTBALL
STUDENT COUNCIL LEARNS TO LEAD
BOYS AND GIRLS GOLF WORKED ON THEIR GAME
Golfers came together this summer to walk off yardages and fine tune their short game. WOLVES don't 3-putt.
HONOR ART
WPS art students placed number one for the second year in a row at the Denver CHALKART festival, CONGRATS to them.

THE MENTAL GAME
The MENTAL GAME of sports is just as important as the physical game, but how can you work your mind to perform better?
"Navy Seal Box Breathing"
When in high-stress situations, it's crucial to remain calm and think clearly. Navy SEALs use box breathing as a quick way to get the nervous system under control.
-Start by slowly exhaling all the air in your lungs.
-Then inhale through your nose to a count of 4
-Hold that breath for a count of 4
-Fully exhale for a count of 4
Use this before you hit that tee shot, use that jump serve, or nail that PK.

RETURNING ALPHAS
MASON KIEWIET
Mason put together a stellar junior year, amassing 3,735 all purpose yards, while throwing and running for a combined 41 touchdowns.
MAGALY SANTA CRUZ
Magaly sits on the hot corner for the WOLVES and was a very impactful player her freshman year. She was top two in all offensive categories as a freshman and led our team in "Dingers".
JARELY SANCHEZ
Jarely returns as an award winning setter/libero who won Honorable Mention All State. We look for a lot of rallies to run through this girl.
GABRIEL MARTINEZ
Gabriel had a career best golf round to end the season, look for him to not miss many fairways.
JARED SILVA
Jared's character and determination earned him a spot on varsity soccer last year. He started his season shy not very vocal but this year during summer practices he has come out of his comfort zone and has been carrying the team and held them accountable as a Junior.

WHAT HOME OPENER ARE YOU MORE EXCITED TO GO TO?
NEW VARSITY ATHLETES TO WATCH
KIARA DELEON
Incoming Freshman is a power hitter with one of the strongest arms in the program. Kiara has already learned how to win by playing on a team which traveled to nationals in Phoenix this summer coming in 3rd place overall.
CYNTHIA ROSALES
Cynthia is a futures stand out and utility player, who spends most of her time behind the plate. The scouting report says she is a skilled player and a hard worker, look for her to make an impact.
ADRIAN MORENO
Moreno competed at the 2024 Kohls National Kickers Camp, where he was rated as a ⭐⭐⭐⭐kicker. Moreno showed smooth leg work with power to back it up, with his longest kick being 75 yard, and a 3.34 hang time.
CHEERLEADERS
The cheerleading team got a new coach over the summer but didn't miss a step. We can't wait to see them at games this year getting the crowd excited.
DANIEL HERRERA
Daniel just picked up golf this year at camp. Seems to be a natural when it comes to swinging the club.
DAMIAN LOPEZ
Junior Damian Lopez finished his fastest 5k in under 19 minutes and was our fastest runner even though it was his first year running! He's extremely competitive and motivated and should only continue to get better over time.
NILMAR GARCIA
The talent and skill Nilmar has shown during summer practices is great. Nilmar is not afraid and takes any opportunity he gets.
