MCAA Rocket Report

Greetings MCAA Families,

As we step into January, I want to take a moment to reflect on the busy and joy-filled December we’ve just left behind. From festive classroom celebrations to our inspiring holiday performances and community service projects, December was a wonderful reminder of the strong and vibrant school community we share. Thank you to all who participated, volunteered, treated us and made these moments so special for our staff and students.

January brings with it fresh opportunities and renewed energy for learning and growth. As we kick off the new year, we’re excited to dive back into academics, build on our progress, and set new goals. Please keep an eye on upcoming events, important dates, and opportunities to engage with your child’s learning journey. Here’s to a great start to 2025, filled with possibilities and success for every student and family in our school!

Join us for Jimmy Carter Dress-Up Day tomorrow, 1/9 as we celebrate the life, legacy, and leadership of the 39th President of the United States!

What to Wear:

• Patriotic colors of red, white, and blue
• A sharp suit and tie like President Carter's classic look
• Georgia teams like Tech, the Braves, and the Hawks
• Dress like a farmer

In December we administered our mid-year district wide assessments to include winter Map and our Literacy Diagnostic Assessments. This important data helps drive instructional decisions ensuring all students are reaching their maximum potential. Map results have been posted in your Aspen family portal. If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to reach out to your child's teacher or myself. We are incredibly proud of the hard work and accomplishments of our students! Let's keep the momentum going! The sky is the limit for our Rockets!

Congratulations to our 2024-2054 Blue Devil Award recipient Alice Neill and our Be Somebody recipient Ms. Perkins. They truly exemplify what it means to be an MCAA Rocket, demonstrating the spirit of STEM innovation, dedication, and going above and beyond in every endeavor. Their hard work, leadership, and passion inspire us all—well done!

If you know someone interested in joining our rising 3rd grade cohort, please have them reach out to mcaaenrollment@marietta-city.k12.ga.us. We are currently accepting applications to fill our remaining seats for the 2024-2025 school year. We have limited seats available for in district and out of district students.

It's time for our next House Challenge on January 27th! We can't wait to reveal the challenge to our students and watch our engineers at work. Students should wear house shirts and expect a change in schedule.

In January, the media center will highlight and celebrate winter, Dr. Martin Luther King, Coretta Scott King, Rosa Parks, and New Year's traditions and celebrations around the world.

We are so proud of all of our hardworking competition teams. In December we had our JV Reading Bowl, MCAA Spelling Bee, and Lego Robotics competition. We are so proud of all of our participants. In January our competition Reading Bowl team will head to the district bowl on January 16th. Our Spelling Bee winner will compete in the district Bee on January 12th and our North Central Technology Competition Club will enter their projects for review on January 25th. Drama Club will round out the month with their performance of Aladdin Junior January 31st and February 1st. Let's do this Rockets!!
