Schedules
We absolutely do our best to accommodate student and family requests, but we are operating within a tight window to keep class and team numbers equitable.
Schedule and team changes are not options. We can attempt to address repeat courses(2 PE courses or 2 Spanish courses), required and/or qualifying courses, and missing courses. These adjustments need to be communicated to the appropriate grade level counselor
6th-grade Jenny.Bynum@edmondschools.net
7th-grade Lindsey.Descher@edmondschools.net
8th-grade Vicki.Barton@edmondschools.net
Counselors are also able to address any specific questions regarding class descriptions.
It is vital for you to know that we want to give everyone their dream schedule, but it is impossible to fulfill all 800 student/parent dreams and wishes for teachers, courses, and teams. Remember that we want class sizes that support student learning, and if schedules are changed, it gives an unfair advantage by adjusting class and team numbers.
I am sure there will be tears and angst amongst students at the unveiling of schedules. These feelings are perfectly normal, and students experience them each year at the beginning of school. I know that feeling as a parent (I have two students myself; one is an 11th grader, and the other is a sophomore in college. When they are in distress, we want to fix it. I do, too! However, it is essential to know that we won't be able to accommodate changes. I wish we could. It is not in our nature as educators to make people unhappy. We want everyone to be happy. So, I ask you to please sit down with your child and help us soothe and assure them that it will be okay. We will take great care of your child as they navigate middle school life and pre-adolescence. But we can't do it alone; we need your help in this mission. Life is not always comfortable, and often, things do not go as we want them. We know this as adults, but kids are still learning this. Thank you for partnering with us on this journey!
Chromebook Technology Protection Plan (STPP)
Best $20 you will ever spend!
All PK - 12th grade students will be issued a district device to use for learning this year. At times, PK - 5th grade students may be given the option to take their district-issued device home with them to use, but they will mostly use their device in the classroom. All 6th - 12th grade students will be required to take their devices home each day.
All devices have a case to prevent accidental damage, however, we strongly recommend that families purchase the Student Technology Protection Plan (STPP) for each student. STPP will cost $10/year for all students in PK - 5th grade, and will cost $20/year for all students in 6th - 12th grades. Parents/Guardians will be financially responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged Chromebooks and/or iPads, as well as chargers and cases. This plan covers your student’s device at school and outside of school. You may pay for the STPP online via our InTouch payment system. If you have difficulties using the payment portal, these directions should be able to help. The last day to purchase this coverage is Friday, September 20, 2024.
Thank you for your time,
EPS Technology Department
Welcome Edmond Transition Academy
Dear Cheyenne Parents and Guardians,
As we continue preparing for the start of the upcoming school year, we wanted to make you aware of an EPS program that will be partially housed in our building this year.
The Edmond Transition Academy is a program for our EPS Special Education students who are between the ages of 18 - 22 and are finishing their time with the district. The goal of the program is to prepare these students for their life after Edmond Schools. It’s a program that started last school year with great success and is already growing. Because of that growth, the district needs additional space for these students as we work to build a permanent facility that was approved by Edmond voters on our last bond.
It’s important to note that this will not create any disruption to the normal school day at Cheyenne. Our ETA students will be in a separate part of the building with a separate entrance. The ETA students will also eat lunch in a separate part of the building and use designated restrooms. They will also have continual supervision by EPS staff members. We felt it was important that you are aware of this program since there will be additional students in our building this year.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
Thank you!
