We always manage to pack so much into four day weeks at Cole School! Although we experienced some indoor recess time, we were thankful to play outdoors in the snow whenever we could. Students have been working to complete the Fastbridge screeners in reading this week and will take it in math next week. We had a fire drill with the Norwell Fire Department on Thursday and were all out of the building in 2.5 minutes and right back in to get warm. Bus Meetings continued this week with Mrs. Benner. Be sure to ask your child about the Bus Kits that are now on all of the buses.

We welcomed two student teachers to Cole School for the spring semester. Please join us in welcoming Ms. Emma Carroll (Stonehill College) to Mrs. Williamson's 4th grade class and Ms. Kinley Mahar (UMass Amherst) to Mrs. Gagnon's music classes.

This group of Magnificent Meerkats have shining brightly all week with excellent behavior and hard work in the classroom! Ms. Barlow, Mrs. Rantz, and Mrs. Crossen were all recognized this week for being helpful teachers and for going above and beyond in their roles. Way to go, Meerkats!

As a point of information, there is an uptick of Flu A cases at Cole School. Getting vaccinated is the best way to prevent severe influenza and the serious complications that can result from it. The flu season typically goes through March. It is not too late to get your child vaccinated. There are also 3 in 1 test kits that are available at some pharmacies now that test for Flu A, Flu B and Covid. If your child does test positive for the flu, please let the school know so we can look for patterns in the classroom.

We started our Gymnastics Unit! While working on flexibility, balance, and strength, students practiced rolls, weight on hands, and jumps. Students also had an opportunity to use one of three climbing ropes, two of the balance beams, and one parallel bar.
