D103 Learning Update
Restore Illinois Guidance:
The state is in Phase 4 and the Bridge to Phase 5 criteria has been released: To get to Phase 5 Bridge criteria the community needs to show that 70 percent of its residents 65 and older have been vaccinated. Lincolnshire has about 45 percent of its residents over 65 vaccinated. Also, there can be no reversals in community COVID-19 hospitalizations and deaths for a 28-day monitoring period.
The criteria to move from Bridge to the Phase 5 plan is that 50 percent of residents 16 and older have been vaccinated and that there is a stable or declining COVID-19 metrics recorded during a 28-day monitoring period.
Under Phase 4 criteria D103 is looking at a possible outdoor spectator event for eighth-grade graduation at the SHS Football Stadium (15 people per 1,000 square feet, which allows families and students to gather outdoors for graduation.) For inclement weather, Daniel Wright is looking at moving graduation inside to the SHS Sports Center (where guidelines allow 250 people or 25 percent capacity) where D103 would likely split the class into two time frames and allow a limited number of family members to attend the event.
Quarantining Close Contacts exposed to COVID-19: Individuals who have been in close contact with a person who tested positive for COVID-19 will have to quarantine for 14 days if they were six-feet or less from the infected individual for 15 minutes, masked or unmasked. To prevent the spread of COVID-19 the CDC recommends quarantining the class if there is a positive COVID-19 case in the classroom. In addition, students riding a school bus with the positive COVID-19 case may also quarantine, depending on proximity to the infected individual. Due to these scenarios two classes at Sprague and one class at Half Day had to quarantine recently.
Fall Planning: D103 is planning for 100% return to school in the fall.
The District is waiting for further information from the State regarding remote learning.
Students with medical needs will be offered a remote learning option, pending State guidance.
The District is in the process of purchasing desks to allow for three-foot distancing.
D103 is reviewing the need for daily surveillance testing.
D103 will ensure that current mask protocols are followed.
D103 is planning for the return to full day kindergarten.
D103 is looking at busing options to transport students to/from school.
Spanish will be offered to all grade levels in the fall.
Group lessons in music will expand to practice outdoors.
Metrics: D103 has a positivity rate of 3.4 percent. The incidence rate is ticking up slightly to 10.6 in D103 zip codes and 12.9 in Lake County. In Lake County there have been no reports of a COVID-19 outbreak in schools, which is defined as five people or more testing positive for COVID-19 in the same location.
Staffing Plan
The 2021-2022 staff plan was presented to the school board. Certified and associate staffing was adjusted for the 2021-2022 school to pre-COVID numbers. There was no change in administrative staffing.
Board Meeting Schedule
The 2021-2022 Board Meeting Schedule was presented to board members. The schedule adheres to the similar current meeting schedule with the avoidance of meetings on religious and other days off of school.
Administrator and Classified Salary Increases
Area school district salaries are averaging 3 percent raises for administrator and classified salaries and District 103 is recommending the same pay increase for the 2021-2022 school year.
