SHS Weekly Update

The SHS Drama Club presented "The Wiz" over two weekends, bringing the Broadway story to life with Dorothy, the scarecrow, tin man and lion.

1. Senior Dues are due now: $90

2. If students have technology, library, club, or JROTC debts, please take care of them as soon as possible. Graduation tickets will not be distributed unless obligations have been taken care of.

3. Please read the senior newsletter that was sent out on Remind and Google Classroom with all the events leading up to graduation. Please review it carefully and if you have any questions, email the senior class sponsor, Mrs. Mayes, at tmayes@iwcs.k12.va.us. You can download the newsletter below.

4. Jostens will be here on June 11th for any senior that has not purchased their Cap & Gown - $70 (Cash Only)

5. There has been a time change to the June 12th graduation practice. Practice will take place in SHS auditorium from 12pm - 2pm. Students will receive 6 tickets following practice. SHS seniors need to pick up their own tickets that day. Tickets will not be given out to individuals other than the named senior.

6. Lifetouch will be taking photos during the June 13 graduation ceremony. To access those photos, text the code 69181GY25 to 90738. Lifetouch will send you a link when the photos are ready to view and order.

The senior survey was shared with all seniors via the Google Classroom. All seniors must complete this survey (link below) before graduation.

SHS collected a grand total of 6,377 tabs to assist families with lodging and shelter sponsored by the Ronald McDonald House.Thank you to everyone who contributed to this worthy cause, and congratulations to Mr. Ping’s class for collecting the most pop tops and winning the pizza party.

Medications not picked up will be destroyed in compliance with the Isle of Wight County School Board Policy.

Smithfield High School will host its FIRST eAviation Drone Camp August 4-8 (9:00-4:00).

Please ensure that all absences for your child are properly excused. To clear unexcused absences:

• Parents may submit up to five parent notes per semester for any reason.
• Doctor's notes are unlimited and can be submitted at any time.

To receive credit for a class, students must not exceed five unexcused absences. Any student with more than five unexcused absences in a class will not earn credit for that class, regardless of their grade. These students will need to go through the Attendance Appeal Process to address the issue.
