Vision and Dental Screenings for ALL SPS Students
BMS Dental Screening: January 23rd
Student health screenings are coordinated by Springfield Public Schools (SPS) Health Services and performed each school year for grades K-8. SPS partners with the Community Health Centers of Lane County for dental. Dental Screenings will only take place for students with a signed permission slip (permission slips passed out closer to the event date).
School Health Screenings
Health screenings play an integral part in children’s development and well-being. Because childhood health problems can eventually develop into chronic adult conditions, screenings that students are given in school can help detect potential health problems and improve the overall health of every student.
Healthy students are better learners and routine checks ensure that they are healthy and fit so they can meet their full academic potential. School health screenings help in the early detection of health conditions. SPS collaborates with community partners to provide these screenings for grades K-8 each school year.
For dental screenings, hygienists take a quick look inside the student’s mouth looking for any obvious signs of dental issues.

Briggs Website:
Informational Tidbits
Cell Phone Policy: Students that bring cell phones and other electronics to the school will need to have them turned off and put away during the school hours from 8:15 to 3:05 every day. If students need to contact a parent, they should come down to the office to do so. Please help us to enforce this expectation so students can concentrate on their classes and school work while at school. You can view our cell phone policy HERE.
Sports: We are excited to partner with Willamalane to provide after school sports. Students who are planning on participating in our fall sports of flag football, cross country, or volleyball can now register at the Willamalane website (www.willamalane.org) under “Youth Sports”. Fall sports will start on September 20th.
Briggs Online Gear
We are excited to have our very own online store. 10% of all proceeds come back to Briggs Middle School. There are plenty of designs to choose from and we love seeing students, parents, and community supporters rep our merch. Feel free to visit the store and check it out.
