🎭 A Spotlight on Our Stage: A Revitalization Campaign
Dear CCS Community,
One of the most special features of our school—the stage housed in the multipurpose room—has long served as the heart of our shared celebrations. From concerts and musicals to assemblies, talent shows, and community events, this space has helped our students find their voices and shine in front of an audience.
This spring, we are launching an exciting Capital Campaign to Revitalize the CCS Stage, with a goal of raising $50,000 to restore and upgrade this essential space. This is a collaborative effort between Charlotte Central School and our incredible PTO, and I’m thrilled to share some early progress—and an exciting opportunity to help us reach the finish line.
Progress to Date
This campaign is a collaboration between the CCS Administration and the CCS PTO and was first introduced during the PTO Variety Show, and your generosity has already helped us make big strides:
🎤 Donations at the event helped inspire the PTO to contribute $10,000, combining donations from the event with previously raised funds.
🏫 Charlotte Central School added $4,350 from this year’s budget.
🎭 These contributions allowed us to purchase and schedule the installation of the new stage curtain—our first major upgrade!
🌟 In a beautiful show of community support, PCC Pediatric EHR Solutions stepped in with an extraordinary $12,000 donation.
This brought our total raised to $26,350—more than halfway to our goal.
Matching Gift Challenge: Your Dollar = Double the Impact!
We’re thrilled to also announce this next chapter: PCC will match dollar for dollar the next $10,000 raised for this campaign. That’s right—every donation made now will be doubled, bringing us within just a few thousand dollars of completing all three phases of this project.
If you or someone you know—whether a family, local business, or community member—feels moved to support this cause, now is the moment to double your impact.
The Campaign Focuses on Three Key Components:
A New Main Stage Curtain
Our current curtain has served its time—it is decades old, patched and sewn, and no longer flame-retardant. Thanks to early contributions, a brand-new curtain has already been ordered from the world-renowned theatrical company Rose Brand, with installation scheduled to begin just after the curtain closes on our spring musical, Willy Wonka Jr. (June 5–7).LED Stage Lighting System
We’re planning a full upgrade to our lighting system, including new electrical infrastructure, modern LED lights, and a new control panel to bring student performances to life in vivid color and clarity.New Sound System with Wireless Capability
A modern sound system, including new wireless mics and new permanent speaker installations, will ensure every voice can be heard—whether it’s a kindergartener at a morning meeting or an 8th grader taking their final bow.
How to Donate
There are three easy ways to give:
Write a check to Charlotte Central School with “Stage Revitalization Capital Campaign” in the memo line. Drop it off or send it to us at 408 Hinesburg Road, Charlotte, Vermont 05445.
Write a check to the Charlotte Central School PTO with the same memo, and mail it to them at CCS PTO, 408 Hinesburg Road, Charlotte, Vermont 05445.
Donate online to the Charlotte Central School PTO and indicate it's for the “Stage Revitalization Capital Campaign."
Any of these routes will help us close the gap—and possibly install everything before the next school year begins.
This is more than a facilities upgrade—it’s an investment in the creative expression, confidence, and community spirit of our students and the greater Charlotte community. This will not only be an asset for CCS but a town and area resource that strengthens our shared community-school relationship. Thank you for believing in this vision and helping us raise the curtain on a new era of performance at CCS.
With gratitude,
Tim O’Leary

Today's All-School Meeting & Arbor Day Tree Planting Ceremony
Today, first-grade students led a tree-mendous all-school assembly celebrating Arbor Day!
After today's assembly, kindergarteners and 8th-graders joined Charlie Proutt from Horsford Nursery for an annual tradition at CCS to plant a tree donated by the nursery and place mulch around some of the trees planted in past similar ceremonies.
Help Keep Our School Community Safe and Healthy
As we move through the school year, we ask for your continued partnership in keeping our school community safe and healthy. Please do not send your child to school if they are sick.
If a student is sent home with a fever, they must remain home until they have been fever-free for at least 24 hours without using fever-reducing medication. This is essential to help stop the spread of illness to classmates and staff.
We know how tough it can be to manage work and family when a child is home sick, but sending them to school before they’re fully recovered—especially after fever, vomiting, diarrhea, or an unexplained rash within the last 24–48 hours—puts others at risk and doesn’t help your child, either.
Sick students are not in a position to learn effectively, and being at school while unwell only delays their recovery and increases the chances of spreading illness to others. Giving medication to temporarily reduce symptoms does not make them well enough to return.
Our teachers are committed to being in the classroom each day, but when we get sick, we face the same challenges you do—and finding substitute coverage is more difficult than ever. Every family doing their part helps us all stay healthy and focused on learning.
Thank you for understanding and helping us care for our entire school community.
In partnership,
Lauren Calkins, BSN, RN, CCS School Nurse
