a note from your band booster president
Dear Parents, Guardians and Family Members,
Thank you for helping make the 2021 marching season the BEST yet! Please know that it was EACH OF YOU that made the difference! The season would not have been as successful or as great of an experience for our students without those of you who donated your time to chaperone buses, help push props/instruments, feed 150 students multiple times each week, or help ensure their uniforms were clean and looked great! What an amazing post-COVID restart for our program!
As Mr. Duffy shared at our last meeting, marching bands around the state are already working on their marching shows for next year. So, believe it or not, it's time for us to get ready too! The Spring is the time in which we will plan for next year's officers, chairs, and committees for next year! We will nominate officers in April and elect next year's board at the May general meeting.
During that time we will also be getting ready for Hawaii in mid-March, hosting Texas Color Guard Circuit (TCGC) regional finals three days upon our return from Hawaii, hosting UIL Concert and Sightreading at the end of March, and preparing to host our first ever BAND BANQUET - tentatively scheduled for April 14th! (Please let us know if you would like to join the band banquet committee and help plan!)
The bottom line is...the Jaguar Band still needs your help! COVID kept us off-campus for about a year, so we were unable to complete important tasks during our first year. For example, COVID hit right at the time that the band had just received its concert uniforms. Those concert uniforms have NEVER been unpacked, inventoried, or numbered for issuing! And, we need them for UIL in March! We also had to put our plans on hold to paint and decorate the dressing rooms and guard room so that they reflect the level of pride we have in our programs!
Well, now we finally have the opportunity! Remember, we are competing at the 6A level next year! So, let's get a jump on the Spring and next year's marching season! See below for our first Spring workdays.
Thanks in advance for your continued dedication to and support of the success of your student's band and guard programs!
See you next year!
Ida Musgrove
President, JBB

GUARDians,
Urgent: Per the email that was sent on Friday, Dec. 17th, parents of Winterguard members MUST fill out the form that was attached and send to Mr. Duffy NO LATER THAN Monday, December 27th! Please also copy Ida Musgrove at president@johnsonbands.com as she will be assisting Mr. Duffy with ensuring those are completed and ready for submission.
Reminder: We will be making a few slight adjustments to our Spring schedule. Thanks in advance for your continued flexibility and understanding! Those adjustments are as follows:
We will NO longer be meeting on Sunday, January 2nd.
We will only meet on Monday, January 3rd. Practice time is now 1 - 8 p.m.
January 17th (MLK day), Varsity will meet from 10 a.m. - 8 p.m.; JV will remain from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Please keep in mind that, unlike marching band season when we went to our first competition before the entire show was on the field, Varsity Winterguard MUST have their entire show on the floor and performance-ready by their first competition on January 29th, especially since they are competing in Open Class this season. That is less than one month from the time we return!
Parents: We will be reaching out to you about hosting a spaghetti dinner for the guard during the practice taking place on January 17 now that practice will go over dinner time. Parents will be invited! This will not only fuel our performers; it will provide us with the opportunity to connect before we kick off this season! Please be on the lookout for a sign-up!
Spring Fees: Varsity guard members will have an additional fee for the Spring to cover the cost of the unitard that you will be required to wear under your competition uniforms.
