FINAL WEEK OF STATE TESTING
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Each day of testing, our kindergarten through 2nd grade students cheer our big kids as they walk to their classroom to begin state testing. Most students have completed both the English Language Arts and the Math. This week, our 5th graders will take the Science test. Keep up the good work!
MAY'S FOCUS
PBIS Habit
- Be Honest
RCA Traits
* Be humble, do not brag
* Do not ask for a reward
STUDENT SHOUT OUT
Miss Ramos nominated Elias Hernandez in first grade for a SHOUT OUT. He was recognized because he noticed one of our non-verbal students had gotten hurt. He brought the student over to an adult and explained what happened. Great Job Elias!
Character Trait #14: Answering questions in Complete Sentences
This rule helps students to develop a command of both written and oral language. It helps them learn to develop and organize their thoughts especially when the questions require a short but thought-out answer. In addition to strengthening their writing, it improves their ability to speak and express themselves clearly and articulately.
Think about it, if you ask your child, "should we go to the movies tonight?" It is easy for your child to give you a 1 word answer. Why not, expect them to say it in a complete thought. "Yes, I think we should go to the movies tonight." This is so much more powerful!
Homework and Afterschool Clubs Schedule Changes
Art, Coding, and Sports Club will continue to meet at 4:00 on their regularly scheduled days.
SAFETY UPDATES
Dismissal - Thank you we have seen an increase in patience in our parking lot. But please do not cut the line - staff is directing traffic to open spots. It takes all of us to make this work.
Remember, the bell rings for our littles (1st-3rd) at 2:30. It takes several minutes for the students to leave class and get to the front of our school. Kindergarteners are not dismissed until 2:40. Thank you for helping us keep kids safe!
