After a long winter, Spring seems close… We have been VERY busy since Teachers’ Convention and Family Day. We long for the days of extracurricular sports, clubs, and fine arts opportunities. While we are happy that our COVID numbers have been at zero since just before Christmas, we are still unable to offer any additional extracurricular opportunities for students or staff. However, we have in fact made the gym available to junior high classes (within their cohorts, of course) at lunch time.
Gish staff hosted a very well-attended Virtual Kindergarten Open House on February 18. We still have room in the GLOBAL Program for all grades at Gish School, and we’ve reached our maximum capacity for Kindergarten Cogito students. GISH School offers full-day every day, and half-day every day programs. Please continue to talk to friends and neighbours who have not yet registered.
Parent Teacher Interviews are scheduled for Tues., Mar. 23 and Wed. Mar. 24 from 5:00-8:00pm. Please be sure to book a time with your child(ren)’s teacher(s). Bookings can be made starting at 8:00am on March 16. We are embarking on a leadership project to help St. Albert’s Community Village. We continue to be proud of the student leadership opportunities at Gish School.
Enjoy synergizing with family and friends during Spring Break from March 26 – April 5 inclusive, and remember that Wednesday, April 7 is Staff Meeting Day. Grade 1-9 students will be dismissed at 12:04pm, and Kindergarten students do not attend on this day.
After Spring Break, we’ll look forward to lots of productive learning, including limited numbers of field trips. We are also hosting a junior high “Information Evening” on April 15 from 6:30pm-8:00pm. This is primarily for our Grade 6 Cogito students, but anyone may join via the Google Meet link: meet.google.com/iun-piui-aix.
Provincial telephone surveys are ongoing across the province. Parents, if you are contacted, PLEASE participate. We hope that you’ll honestly communicate that public education needs more predictable, sustainable funding. Provincial surveys for students and teachers have been delayed.
