A message from Mrs. Macias
Dear Parents,
As the new school year begins, we are excited to partner with you in supporting your child's educational journey. Research consistently shows that parent engagement in education is one of the most important factors in a child's academic success. When parents take an active role in their child's learning, it positively impacts their grades, behavior, and overall attitude toward school.
Why Is Parent Engagement Important?
- Boosts Academic Achievement: Children whose parents are involved in their education tend to perform better academically. This involvement shows children that their education is a priority, which encourages them to take their studies seriously.
- Improves Behavior: Engaged parents often help set the tone for positive behavior and a strong work ethic. They are more likely to be aware of any issues early on and can work with teachers to address them before they escalate.
- Enhances Communication: When parents are involved, they are more likely to communicate with teachers, leading to a better understanding of their child's needs and how best to support them.
Ways to Engage in Your Child's Education:
- Stay Informed: Keep up with school events, assignments, and progress reports. Tools like our school’s online portal Infinite Campus Student Portal can help you stay updated.
- Attend School Meetings and Events: Parent-teacher conferences, school plays, and other events provide opportunities to connect with teachers and other parents.
- Create a Positive Learning Environment at Home: Encourage your child to set aside time for homework and reading. Show interest in what they are learning and offer support when needed.
- Volunteer: Whether it's helping out in the classroom, attending field trips, or joining the PTA, your presence makes a difference.
- Encourage Independence: Support your child in developing good study habits and taking responsibility for their learning, but be there to guide them when necessary.
At Winston Campus Middle School, we believe that a strong partnership between parents, students, and staff is key to academic success. We encourage you to take an active role in your child's education and look forward to a year of growth and learning together.
Thank you for being an essential part of our school community!

A note from Mrs. Mangognia📒
As we navigate the middle school years with our students, it's crucial to emphasize the development of executive functioning skills. These skills, including organization, time management, and impulse control, play a pivotal role in academic success and personal growth. By practicing these skills, students not only enhance their ability to plan and prioritize but also build resilience and independence.
Encouraging our middle schoolers to cultivate these abilities now will prepare them for the challenges ahead, both in school and in life. Together, let's empower our students to become confident, self-directed learners who can thrive in any environment.
Some summer activities to try at home are;
- Planning and completing a project at home (i.e.= gardening)
- Participating in a club or activity
- Learn and try a new skill
- Volunteer in the community
