ALDER AVENUE MIDDLE SCHOOL
WEEKLY NEWSLETTER
Week of June 1, 2025
Hello Alder Families,
As we head into the final stretch of the school year, our school is buzzing with activity and pride!
🌱 Our Garden is Growing!
Mrs. Dilks and her hardworking crew have been busy planting basil, tomatoes, pumpkin, squash, luffa gourd, and cucumbers in our school garden. Mrs. Hendrick’s class added a beautiful strawberry bed along with tomatoes and peppers, and Mr. Anderson will finish off the last raised garden with a bed of bright flowers. It’s incredible to see our students learning and working together outdoors.
🎨 Civic Engagement in Action
This week students from Egg Harbor Township High School brought the spirit of leadership to Alder! Tiana and Mia from Mr. Martirone’s AP Government class led a fantastic, interactive lesson on Civic Engagement with our 7th graders. Students picked causes they cared about and designed creative posters to raise awareness. It was inspiring to see our future leaders in action!
💵 Financial Literacy Fair
A huge thank you to the Career and Technical Education teachers for putting together this year’s Financial Literacy Fair. During the fair students learned important life skills through engaging activities and hands-on experiences.
🎉 7th Grade Challenge Day
Our 7th graders recently enjoyed a day of trivia and Minute-to-Win-It games, putting their knowledge from the year to the test while having fun. Prizes were awarded to the top five students in each session. Special thanks to the Egg Harbor Township Education Foundation for generously sponsoring prizes and supporting our students’ learning adventures!
🎢🌊 8th Grade Trip
Our 8th grade conquered Morey's Pier this week during their 8th grade trip. From fun in the sun, pool and rides, they created memories that will last a lifetime.
There’s still plenty of learning, fun, and growth ahead this month. Let’s finish strong, Alder!
Sincerely,
Ms. Cunningham
