A Note From Dr. Hooks
Dear Hyde-Addison ES Families,
On July 19, 2024, the Hyde-Addison ES team will be hosting a virtual Q and A session for families new to Hyde-Addison ES. The link can be found below and on our website, https://hydeaddisondc.org/. This is different than our in-person Open House Sessions scheduled for August 1, 2024. Details can be found below, on the Back to School flyer.
As part of our continued data share out, I am pleased to provide some of the iReady Reading data from the 2023-2024 school year. The 2023-2024 school year was the first year the Hyde-Addison ES Kindergarten-5th grade students took the iReady Reading Benchmark assessment.
- 89% of Hyde-Addison ES Kindergarten-5th Grade students scored on or above grade level on iReady Reading, on the End of Year assessment (EOY). This was an increase from 46% on the Beginning of Year assessment (BOY).
- Only 1.55% of Kindergarten-5th Grade students scored well below grade level at EOY, a total of just 5 students.
- DCPS has emphasized the Economically Disadvantaged subgroup of students as a high priority. Only 2 students identified as Economically Disadvantaged scored well bellow grade level at EOY.
As always, please feel free to email hyde.addison@k12.dc.gov, with any school specific inquiries.
Kindest Regards,
Dr. Calvin Hooks, Principal
Hyde-Addison Elementary School
