A Message from Mrs. Whitaker
Hello Mustang Families!
A huge shoutout to Coach G for organizing an incredible Field Day — what a fantastic event! We’re so grateful the weather cooperated, and we couldn’t have done it without the support of our amazing parent volunteers and all of you who came out to cheer on the students. It was truly a memorable day for everyone!
In case you missed my email earlier today, we received a huge award at Trails West!
Trails West Elementary honored for academic growth
Trails West Elementary was recently recognized by the Colorado Department of Education for academic growth during the 2023-24 school year. Trails West received the Governor’s Distinguished Improvement Award.
The Governor’s Distinguished Improvement Award was established in 2002 and is given to schools that demonstrate exceptional student growth over time. Schools that receive the Governor’s Distinguished Improvement Award earned an “exceeds expectations” rating on the Academic Growth indicator of the School Performance Frameworks, reflecting consistently high rates of student growth in English language arts, math, and English language proficiency.
See the picture below of our staff celebrating!
Have a great weekend!
Be well,
Kait Whitaker

ARE YOU MOVING!
Are you moving this summer? If you will not be returning to Trails West next year please fill out the form below and return it to the front office so we can prepare your child's academic file to be sent to their new school. It is important that we know this information as soon as possible so we can start this process and so we can plan for the appropriate number of students in each classroom. Thank you for your timely attention to this matter.

Great program to help student athletes with registration fees.
Applying is easy! Parents simply visit our website, fill out a short application, and upload a document verifying their enrollment in either Medicaid, SNAP, or WIC. If eligible, families can receive up to $150 per child, three times per year, to pay their sports registration fees. This could easily pay for the $90 school athletic registration fee and reduce the amount of scholarships schools are awarding. Families who are approved receive a Visa debit card for each child that has controls on it they use to pay.
