Greetings Shaw Montessori,

We are looking for the perfect individual for a Primary Instructional Assistant position. Parents, children may not be picked up early from afterschool enrichment classes. If you have a scheduling conflict that occurs during afterschool enrichment, you will need to wait until the end of class to receive them or you can choose for them to entirely miss the class that day. We simply do not have staff available after hours to bring children to you. Should you have questions regarding this process, please let me know.

Monday, September 23rd we will hold a bus evacuation drill. Your children will learn to board the busses and learn bus safety in the event that our school should ever need to be evacuated.

It is not to early to make your tax credit donations for big trips and support of the outdoor environments! You may do it electronically here: https://phoenixelem.revtrak.net/Tax-Credit-Donation/ or in the school office with our office manager Claire Kooyahoema.

Before and After School Care

Parents,

We are officially a licensed program! We will be beginning the in person Sign In/Out procedure on MONDAY, September 23rd. As a reminder, please park your vehicle and come to the white gate. We will have you sign your child out and then call for them to be released from their class.

This means immunizations are needed by Monday as well! If you are a family who has yet to turn your immunizations in, we will be speaking with you upon pick up. Without those records we are unable to care for your child safely and effectively. Again, you can email them to me, hand them to me, or email the school nurse and grant permission for her to share them with me.

I know a lot of parents have been patiently waiting for the waitlist to open up here at Shaw. I'm happy to say that, with the evening classes offered at Shaw, it has created space in our program! I am working out the logistics with my supervisors now, but we hope to push through a majority of the waitlist over the next couple of weeks. I will continue to keep you posted when a spot becomes available through phone and email.

Elementary Garden

Greetings!

Our eighth week was a refreshing one, filled with watermelon popsicles and watermelon slices. We started harvesting our first crimson sweet watermelons. They are a brilliant crimson red and contain less seeds than our jubilee variety. Some of our Shaw girl scouts planted these watermelons last spring. Big thanks to them for their contribution.

Speaking of gratitude, shoutout to the parents that came to our native planting day. They worked really hard to plant these natives and move rock. The spaces are looking fabulous. We will move more rock and finish up during parent workday. We should be all wrapped up by fall break.

WE NEED PARENT VOLUNTEERS FOR OUR PARENT WORKDAY ON SEPTEMBER 28th. Outside community members are also welcome to join us.

The following volunteer dates are on the calendar:

· September 28th (parent workday)

· December 3rd & 5th (holiday concert afterparty)

· February 22nd (2nd parent workday)
