A NOTE TO PARENTS FROM PRINCIPAL MCWILLIAMS
As the first week of school ends, thank you for your patience and support. From navigating the new parking lot configurations and cafeteria to responding to the police incident in town, it has been a week that required adaptability from students, staff, and families. That said, traffic flow and cafeteria seating have improved throughout the week.
Congestion and traffic flow issues are always an issue during the first few days of school. As drivers learn the parking lot patterns, student drop-off and pickup processes become more efficient. This year has been no exception. To further help with the process, we are adding signs and cones in strategic areas.
Like the parking lots, the lunch room always seems crowded at the beginning of the week. This was particularly the case this week during fifth-period lunch, our largest lunch period. Typically, it takes a few days for students to settle into their lunch periods. Still, the variety of seating options in the renovated cafeteria and the Atriums added to the congestion. We adjusted seating configurations on Monday and Tuesday afternoons, which have provided more seating options. This afternoon, there were multiple open tables available during each lunch period. In the coming weeks, we will refine our seating plan as needed.
This is a quick note about attendance. The state has adjusted the requirements for being excused for a doctor or dentist appointment. We must now get a doctor's or dentist's note to explain the absence. The note simply needs to confirm the appointment. We understand that offices know this requirement, and getting a note excusing the absence is easy.
We look forward to seeing you next week at Back-to-School night. Also, remember that we have a special schedule next week. Friday is an early release day.
