COUNSELOR'S CORNER
STUDENT STORE DONATIONS (REPEAT FROM LAST WEEK)
The Student Store visits students at their classrooms once a month. The store is a great way for students to use the Cheetah Paws they earn for being Safe, Responsible, and Respectful. We always welcome donations towards the Student Store so we can continue to stock it with fun items that students enjoy. If you are able to contribute, please do so HERE! Thank you!

PTA DIRECT APPEAL
Give to Atkinson PTA! Because you don't want to have to find space for MORE stuff, but you DO want to support your teachers and students! The Atkinson PTA will spend over $40,000 this year to support our school. Much of these fundraising dollars happen in small events and experiences but we need your help to build our budget. To meet our goal, we're hoping for a donation of $30 per Atkinson student. Together, we can make sure students have enrichments, teachers have the supplies they need and feel appreciated, and our neighbors have their basic needs met. And remember, your donation is 100% tax deductible and will enter you in a drawing for some great giveaways! DONATE HERE
OCTOBER 9 IS NATIONAL WALK, BIKE, & ROLL TO SCHOOL DAY!
Join us for National Walk, Bike, & Roll to School Day on Wednesday, October 9, and participate in making the neighborhood safer, happier, and healthier! We'll have some fun goodies to give away to participating students. Taking part can include walking, biking, scooting, skating, or using a personal mobility device. National Walk, Bike, & Roll to School Day falls on the same day as the Atkinson Bike Bus, so if you've been thinking of trying it out, this is a perfect time to join one of the routes!
If you are interested in helping with Walk, Bike & Roll to School Day or have questions, please contact bikes@atkinsonpta.org!
DIA DE LOS MUERTOS
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Planning for our annual Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) altar and event has started and we need volunteers to make this a success! If you are available to volunteer with the altar setup and/or the event, please sign-up here. The altar will be set up the week of October 21 and the event will take place outside on the upper playground on Friday, October 25, 2:30–3:30 p.m. Atkinson staff and students are invited to celebrate with us with hot chocolate and pan de muerto.
WHAT IS DÍA DE LOS MUERTOS?
Día de los Muertos is a vibrant celebration that honors deceased loved ones. Families create altars, or ofrendas, and adorn them with photos, food, and favorite items of the departed to invite their spirits back for a day. This colorful event emphasizes remembrance, joy, and the cycle of life and death.
If you have questions, please contact Erin Lopez at air_in23@hotmail.com or 503-388-1777.
