On behalf of the staff at Elliott Elementary School, I am happy to welcome you back for another exciting school year! We hope this letter finds you well, rested, and ready for the journey ahead.
Here are some important dates to keep in mind as we start the school year:
Tuesday, August 27th: Elliott Open House from 5:00pm-6:30pm
Tuesday, August 27th: First half day of school from 8:30-11:40am
Wednesday, August 28th and Thursday, August 29th: Full day of school 8:30am-3:20pm
Friday, August 30th and Monday, September 2nd: No School (Labor Day Weekend)
Tuesday, September 3rd: School Resumes!
As you plan for the first day of school, here are some additional reminders:
Communication
Elliott’s number is 734-419-2610. You need to save this in your phone as a contact. If you see a call from 734-419-XXXX it could be another phone in the school or district.
Plan to join Class Dojo for your child’s class. Many classroom/school updates are posted on the Dojo app and it’s a great way to communicate with teachers.
Make sure to update your address, phone number, and emergency contacts in Mistar (Parent Portal). We do not have access to your Password, but you can click “Forget your PIN” or “Reset your Password” on the log in page.
Student Drop Off
Students can be dropped off starting at 8:20am when doors open. Students that ride the bus will exit the bus and go to their assigned door. Kindergarten and 1st grade students will be walked to their assigned doors. We have staff monitoring each door for safety. Parents/Guardians will be allowed to walk their student to the classroom doors the first day of school ONLY. We will proceed with our regular scheduled drop off after the first day where students will walk in the building and go to their assigned classroom. Doors will close at 8:30am and parents will need to bring their student to the office for late arrival after 8:30am.
There is NO PARKING in the bus loop. All drop student drop off takes place in the main parking lot. When using the drop off line, students should exit the car from the passenger side onto the sidewalk.
If you choose to walk your child to the door, please park in a parking space and cross on the crosswalk.
Student Pick-up
Students will be picked up from their grade level doors and will be released by their classroom teacher.
If you need child care after 3:20pm, please contact the Champions Program at 734-326-0986 or visit http://www.discoverchampions.com
Breakfast/Lunch
All students receive free breakfast and lunch. Snacks and extra slices of pizza can be purchased (more info will be sent out). Parents are welcome to pack a cold lunch for their student. Due to Michigan’s school nutrition laws, we will not be able to allow fast food lunch deliveries.
If your child has a food allergy, please submit a note from your child’s pediatrician to the office.
Transportation
Bus stop pickup and drop off times should be in Mistar by Friday, August 23rd. If you have any questions, the Transportation Department can be reached at 734-419-250.
Attendance
To report an absence, please utilize the attendance line at 734-419-2611.
The district’s attendance policy can be found at this link.
The staff at Elliott has been working hard to prepare the school for the return of our students. They have been planning lessons and activities, field trips, and working to ensure that your child receives the highest quality education!
I feel privileged to be a part of this school community. Thank you so much for your support and we look forward to seeing you soon!
Lets have a great week.

Student Arrival & Dismissal Locations
This year when arriving to Elliott students will go to their designated door entrances upon
arrival. Please see the map provided for class locations.
K - Door 13 (students will exit for dismissal from classroom exterior door)
1st & 2nd - Door 10
3rd & 4th - Door 5
5th 4th/5th split K-2 Wendecker & 2-5 Sawyers - Door 11
We have made some adjustments to our parking so that parents have more access when
dropping off students and picking them up. The lot closest to Bennington St where the arrival
& dismissal takes place is designated for our Elliott families that need to park to come into
the building. Please make sure that you are not entering the bus loop/staff parking area to
ensure a quick and smooth drop off for our school buses.
When entering the parking lot please look for the K-2 drop off area and the 3-5 drop off area.
When pulling in the no parking zones they are designed to drop off students and keep moving.
No one should park in these areas and leave their car as it makes arrival and dismissal more
difficult for everyone involved. Students should not be dropped off in the middle of the lanes
as this becomes a safety concern.
Staff will be at the arrival grade level drop off areas to assist families on the first day locating
their assigned doors.
Elliott School Spirit Store
We are excited that we have spirit wear that we have been able to partner with AKA Sports located in Wayne to create a school spirit store for Elliott Elementary. We encourage our students to wear their spirit wear on Wellness Wednesdays (1st Wednesday of the month) as well as our spirit wear days during our sports seasons. Elliott Spirit Store

WWCSD K-12 Attendance Protocol
Regular attendance is crucial for your child's academic success. Please make every effort to ensure your child attends school on time every day and stays throughout the whole day. Consistent attendance throughout the school day allows your child to engage in learning and maximize their educational opportunities fully.
Illness: If your child is not feeling well and cannot attend school, please notify us immediately. Students who are ill should not attend school to prevent the spread of illness to others.
Excused Absences: We understand that there may be instances when your child needs to be absent due to illness, medical appointments, family emergencies, or other legitimate reasons. Please notify the school in advance whenever possible to classify the absence as excused.
Unexcused Absences: Unexcused absences negatively impact your child's education. Absences without valid reasons will be considered unexcused, and appropriate actions may be taken per district policy.
Timely reporting of absences helps us maintain accurate attendance records and ensures that your child's absence is properly documented. Absences must be reported within 24 hours.
There are two convenient methods for reporting your child's absence to facilitate efficient communication and accurate attendance records.
You can notify your child's school through the dedicated attendance line. Please leave a detailed message stating your child's name, grade, and reason for absence.
You can report absences directly through MiStar, our secure online portal for student information. MiStar provides a user-friendly interface that allows you to submit absences.
Thank you for your ongoing support in creating a positive and productive learning environment for all our students.
