Assessment calendar
The UHS Assessment Calendar is a tool to assist teachers in their planning and helps parents support their students as they plan and advocate for themselves. You can filter by grade and by subject. Keep in mind that although students can view this calendar, they have individualized calendars on Canvas.
Note however, that although there are grade specific subjects, not all students are enrolled in all of those courses. For example, a tenth-grade student is enrolled in either AP World History or AP European History. There are also multi-part finals, so those tests do not necessarily take up the entire class period. Teachers have different grading deadlines depending by grade. You can view the calendar here.
Class of 2027 - English course announcement
Starting in 2024-2025, we will be offering two distinct pathways for our 10th-grade English course: English 10 Honors (the course we have historically offered) and AP English Seminar. Here’s a brief overview of each option:
English 10 Honors: This course offers an in-depth exploration of literature, critical analysis, and writing skills. You will engage with a variety of texts, both classic and contemporary, and develop your ability to analyze and interpret complex themes and ideas. Through rigorous coursework and meaningful discussions, you will refine your writing skills and deepen your understanding of the
English language.
AP English Seminar: As an Advanced Placement course, AP English Seminar offers a college-level curriculum focused on effective communication, research, and argumentation. This course will challenge you to think critically, conduct independent research, and engage in collaborative discussions. By examining a diverse range of texts and perspectives, you will enhance your analytical skills and prepare for the rigor of college-level coursework. (Informational sheet is also attached.)
Both courses will provide you with valuable skills and insights that will serve you well in your academic and professional endeavors. Carefully consider your academic goals, interests, and strengths when selecting your English course for next year. You are automatically enrolled in English 10 Honors. If you choose to request AP English Seminar, please fill out this form by June 21, 2024.
Declaration Night info
Graduation info Zoom - recording
If you missed the graduation info night, check out the recording Ms. Volkening made of the meeting. Please continue reaching out to her at Lisa.volkening@tusd1.org for any questions or information leading up to the day. Remember a couple of things in the meantime:
- Follow Ms. Volkening's checklist for your last few days at UHS.
- Make sure you pay any debts, and return any novels, textbooks, uniforms, technology, or any other school property to each respective office on campus.
- Stay on top of any final exams or final items to take care of with your coursework.
- Show up for the last few days! On time!
- Say thank you to people who taught you, assisted you, or just pointed you in the right direction.
Parking permits 2024-2025
The application window for 2024-2025 student parking permits is now open! Students: complete the UHS parking permit application form. You will be notified as the school year approaches if you are selected to have a parking permit, and you will receive further instructions of what will be due in the finance office along with all necessary supplementary documentation before the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year. Any remaining applicants who are not selected to receive a permit will be placed on a waiting list. You must access this form using your TUSD email/ID because we require file uploading and it is part of our district digital security measures. For any further information or questions please contact Ms. Montano in the UHS administration office.
Pick-up and drop-off procedures
Students should not be dropped off or picked up in the North parking lot off of 5th street. This lot is used for busses and staff only. It creates a dangerous situation when our busses are having to dodge traffic that is entering and exiting. Students and families should be using the drop off loop on Aradia for drop-off and pick-up. Thank you, in advance, for adhering to these procedures for the safety of our students and staff members. Our security monitors work tirelessly to keep our campus safe. Please support them by following protocol.
