Note: This weekly newsletter is being sent to all of our enrolled families, both those at the Broadway K-8 campus and those whose students attend class at Operation Breakthrough, so that all families are aware of upcoming events. If your child attends classes at Operation Breakthrough and you are not sure which items apply to you, please do not hesitate to ask!

School photos are now available for viewing and ordering! Families should have received an email from Jostens on Friday with access details, but you can also visit JostensPix and enter event code FE55824 for Citizens of the World Charter School. Access your images securely using the email address you have provided to the school. School photo retakes will take place on November 5th, and we will send out more info in the newsletter as we get closer to that date. Please reach out to Ms. Jamesetta with any questions!

On Tuesday, October 15th, KC Care will be onsite at the Broadway Campus for dental screenings. All students in the school will receive a dental screening, which involves a brief check of students teeth and mouths with a dental mirror. If you DO NOT want your child to be screened, then you must send back an opt out form. Screenings will be held inside the school building and will be conducted by KC Care dental staff and UMKC dental students. You will receive communication from KC care if your child needs follow up care. If you have questions, then contact johanna.chambers@cwckansascity.org.

Our first quarter incentive is underway! The Kickin' It in the Park outing will take place this Thursday, October 17th, and all students at the Broadway campus are eligible to earn this park visit. Students who have spent 100% of time in class and have 2 or fewer buddy room visits between 10/1 and 10/15 will get to go to the Karnes Rope Park and chill with friends for a portion of the school day! (Note: this is a park location change from previous information sent out.) Parents and caregivers are welcome to accompany, but please email Ms. Gina to let us know to expect you. Please reach out to Mr. Butler with any questions!

This year's Fall Fun Fest will be held on Thursday, October 17th from 6-7:30 pm in the school parking lot and playground. This year’s theme is a massive tailgate, so bring your favorite game day spirit! Enjoy a variety of activities, including delicious food, a spooky trunk or treat, exciting ticket games, and fun free games for all ages. All PreK through 8th grade families are welcome and encouraged to attend this fun annual event! Everyone is welcome to wear costumes to this event, but it is not mandatory.

We need your help to make this event a success! Volunteers are needed to host trunks, donate candy and drinks, and assist with setup and teardown, and you can sign up here! Don't miss this evening of festive fun and community spirit—mark your calendars and join us for a night to remember!

Reminder: There is no school at the Broadway campus on Friday, October 18th due to a Professional Development Day!

The book fair will be open for purchases during Family Conferences only, so please do not send money to school with your students.

We’re looking for volunteers to help make this event a success! Please consider signing up for a 2-hour shift during conferences to help our book fair run smoothly!

Additionally, students in grades 4-8 who participated in the MAP Assessment at Citizens last year will receive their 2024 MAP scores during these conferences.

Don’t miss the chance to visit our Scholastic Book Fair, located in the music room, where families can explore and purchase a wonderful selection of books. Join us in celebrating literacy and supporting our school community!
